I am working on a full list but it isn't ready yet.
Please help to post more data from tests around the globe.
12.8 secs 175.4 km/h is the best time I've seen by
Automobile RS6 Saloon HN-QU614.

This is an old thread that seems worthy of new attention, no? I just set a personal record....
http://forums.audiworld.com/qclubflo...gs/45667.phtml
...and altho it pales by comparison with the numbers posted above, methinks the automotive press almost always gets better times than we Joe Blow drivers can attain.
Or maybe not. What do you think? Anyone else want to post personal numbers? I am 100% stock.
Mine was timed with a hand held stopwatch. Not the most sophisticated, I know, but it's not that difficult either. I may not be named Enzo but I know how to brake at rest, load up for about a second, then remove my foot from the brake at the same time as I start the watch. Watch speedo, then click again at 60. Might be off a little, but I don't think by much.
Some things that helped: HVAC switched off, and tranny in adaptive "performance" mode after kicking down hard while cruising -- shortly before the run. Also, as mentioned in the link, ESP off of course.
Actually, those guys usually get a car that is broken in and since they dont care if they ruin it, they will do repeated WOT runs with ESP off and brakes on while trying to get the best launch procedure. We on the other hand DO care if we braek something doing this, we prolly arent as agressive as they are.. JMHO.....and altho it pales by comparison with the numbers posted above, methinks the automotive press almost always gets better times than we Joe Blow drivers can attain.
They are also professional drivers and shift MUCH better then us. But the RS6 is tip.. so i dont think thats really an issue. What is better for a tip having in sport mode or manual mode? I have driven a tiptronic car before and it is NOTHING like manual, because the planetary gear sets needs time to change ratios and the torque converter eats so much power, shifting is very slow and sloppy. How is sport mode?
My understanding is that the engine reaches higher rpms before shifting in Sport mode, compared to D. And if I'm applying moderate pedal pressure, that seems to be the case.
However, when flooring it, the engine goes to redline, whether in D or S. At least that's been my experience.
By the way I had gone thru about half a tank of gas which had a bottle of Techron in it. That might have helped my 0-60 time some.
And now that I've attained my goal of a sub-5-second time, I'm going to lay off it because I know it's not good for the drivetrain. I didn't do it that often anyway; maybe 8-10 times when temps were low, over the past year or so.

i've heard 0-60 and 1/4 mile in 12.63@109mph, both according to the supposedly-unreliable Motor Trend.
I think you can say the RS6 is a sub 4.6 second to 60. ( at least)
I think that most people are getting low 13s at the quarter.

DaveyKid, is your car stock? Those are very good times. I've heard G-tech is "fast," too, but the difference between your times and mine is huge. If you're stock, would you consider spending about six bucks for a hand-held stopwatch & see how those times compare to G-tech for the same run? That might tell us a lot.
Personally I'm not too interested in what people think the car should do, or what they've heard. Or even what they've read in car mags, since all the reviews are old & over now. What I WOULD like to hear, and it would be new, is what other owners actually experience during their own runs.
Completely stock, and about a 70 degree day. Curious what I could run with cold temps. For the record, I used three different devices; the original g-tech (shown in red), the newer g-tech pro (not shown but around same times) and the Escort G-Timer (in the blue).
I even thought of filming it but I don't know if playback is typically at speed or if cameras sometimes slowdown the action a bit.
Funny story, when I was doing the 1/4 mile runs, i found a nice empty stretch of interstate highway, used the on-ramp for my launch (yes, it was a level on-ramp), and blasted away. In one particular run, I saw some cars back on the highway coming up, but figured I would get out in front of them on my run and wouldn't have any problems. This was also the last run of the day because more traffic was hitting the summer roads.
So, i take off like a bat out of hell, clip off my 1/4 run, and start to slow down. As I do so, I see about 5 or 6 cars kind of rushing up on me and as I'm looking in the rearview mirror, I see they are a bunch of Crown Vics. You know that warm feeling you get when you know you are in trouble? Yup. So I use the tip to slow down, not wanting to hit my brakes, and get it down to 55 in a hurry. Now, I'm surrounded by about 6 Crown Vic's, all cops, all seeing I was flying but can't really do anything about it because I was so far ahead at the time and they didn't pace me. A couple of them were staring at me and I kept both hands on the wheel and stared straight ahead. As I'm driving 55, about 10 more Crown Vic's passed me. All police cars, all with current plates, and I have absolutely no clue what they were doing. Wasn't a wolf pack as they call them here, but maybe they were just moving cars from one location to another. Nonetheless, I think I had to wash my shorts that day. Oh well!!

I don't have anything to share on the times yet, as I've yet to take the beast t to the track.
But the story that DKid just put together is heck of a funny one. Love it.
Great story. Sometimes you just get lucky! How many times has it turned out otherwise?

I had a close call like that. I was just giving my little 2.3 10v an exercise at about 110mph. Then I saw the Blue and Red flashing light at the corner of my eye. he was on the west bound side of the highway and he was now crossing to this side through those little dirt turn arounds for emrgency vehicles. I knew I was surely done for. I just pulled to the side and at this point I was thinking about what the explanation to my parents was going to be. Then the Squad car didnt even look at me, It drove by and kept going with his sirens on. I just thought. Wow what a jackass he just used his sirens to clear traffic for him!! But then a Firetruck passed too... about 1 mile up there was a turned over 3-series (looked like a 330ci) and smoke everywhere. It was scary.. Didn't look like a survivable crash. But that was a very scary moment. I was going 55 the whole way home
