    Autobild: Audi R8 vs Porsche 997 4S

    AUDI PORSCHE

    420hp / 355 hp
    0–100 km/h 4,5 s 4,6 s
    0–130 km/h 7,1 s 7,2 s
    0–200 km/h 15,5 s 16,0 s

    Elastizität 60–100 km/h 4,8 s (4. gear) 5,4 s (4. gear)
    Topspeed 295 km/h 294 km/h

    Laptime: 2.03,52 min / 2.05,78 min

    Base rice: 104.400 € 96.717 €

Finally are in the Porsche 44 years sports car experience and still more Le-Mans-successes, than AUDI has them. At the monument also the R8 cannot shake 911. Clearly, he brings the sports car world in disorder, is noticeable madly and roars by the lanes like a Italo Exot. Also on the racing course it can convince. But is not enough all. The better "round around lucky sports car" is the Porsche. And clearly more economically is it also.

The result of AUTO picture editor Joerg Maltzan: "so easily none of the base pushes a Elfer. At the monument also the R8 cannot shake 911. Clearly, he brings the sports car world in disorder, is noticeable madly and roars by lanes like a Italo Exot. Also on the racing course it can convince. But is not enough all: The better ' round around lucky sports car ' is the Porsche."

    911 > R8? it is a matter of opinion

i just wish i knew whether or not this R8 tested was a zero series or production vehicle. it does seem a bit slow, though. the published time is 4.6. and the 0-200 time is about right on with R & T.

looks like the average time to 60 thus far is about 4.4. it'll be a neck snapper till very high speeds, where it'll lose out to torque monsters like the M6. but that is nothing to sneer about since they do cost close to the same and the R8 can dance better. i still think they should have compared it to the X50 C4S. per this test that car may have been as fast or faster than the R8, but the cost considerations would have evened out part of the 911's win, i.e. cost.

    screw the 911 anyway

    Past- A4, TT, S4

    Present- R8 V10

The 911 is an amazing car, no doubt! But the laptime speaks for itself.

The laptimes speak for themselves: 2.03,52 min vs. 2.05,78 min that's over 2 seconds per lap!

They say the R8 is expensive. I wonder how many race teams would pay less than <€10k to gain 2 seconds per lap

You do have to remember that roadtesters are only human and as such will have their preferred brands, we have seen it before, the test tells a different story than the final result.

In any case, be happy it's the closest any car has got to taking the crown from a 911 and a shit lot has tried and got a kicking, at least the Audi R8 can hold it's head high.
Search and you will find the truth.

The picture that shows the two cars coming at you on the banked turn says it all. Which one would you rather be driving? For me, no contest. R8 rules!

Two incredible sports cars with comparable performance numbers and wildly different platforms/designs.

The announcer in the Autobild video is right when he says "ein Porsche ist ein Porsche ist ein Porsche." For those who won't drive anything else, they don't need to. Porsches are still amazing and thrilling cars to drive, even if they are little too common on the roads.

For those who are Audi loyalists or who just like a more modern design wrapped around a sublime piece of engineering, the R8 will be the winner.

To me, it's a wonderful world that offers so many choices of great cars. It would be a shame if there were but one.
