    Sport Auto - 3 x RS6 Stock vs. Tuned

    Breaking News!!!

In Sport Auto 12 2002 three RS6 are tested.
One is stock and the two others are tuned by Sportec and Wimmer.
It is now definetly bye bye M5 :byeM5: in the Sportec case, and let me tell you this is only stage one chip tuning as far as I can understand with 500 hp and 615 Nm.

    The Sportec RS6 does 0 - 100 km/h in 4.2 secs and 0 - 200 km/h in 16.6 secs. Impressive since it rolls on 20" wheels!

This Sportec RS6 also has bigger brakes (400 mm front) and brakes from 100 km/h in 38.6 meters.

    Websites for more information.
    Sportec CH
    Wimmer DE

(I was not able to download the pdf file on the Wimmer site with more test data. Anyone else succeded?)

Didnīt get this issue yet, Iīll buy it as soon as it gets here. Maybe the Sportec RS6 can make one or two seconds less to reach 200Kph with 18" wheels. Very nice test.
    Thanks for sharing

I think the result of Wimmer are really disapointing in any case:mad:  ,i hope they will test soon a MTM version.I read in a swiss newspaper a test of SKN RS6 with 500hp;the performances are more or less egual with Sportec version,it means really good

I read somewhere, a comment from an Audi technician that Audi had purposely limited the fuel pressure to limit horse power for reliability reasons. By replacing the standard fuel regulator to an adjustable one which allows more fuel an extra 30 bhp can be expected, as the fuel pump can produce far more pressure than the OEM fuel regulator allows.
Surely that mod should easy to implement and not very expensive...

But then, the reliability might be compromise, I would do it anyway I wonder is those higly modified RS6 change the fuel regulator.

I would be surprised if they did not change the fuel regulator.

Taking that into consideration, the Wimmer RS6 has only 8 bhp more than a standard RS6 with a modified fuel regulator.:o

RS Wimmer has 38Hp more than stock. Didnīt seem to help that much for performance.

    Very interesting point Andre,

This probably goes back to the start of the engine, when rumours abounded that Audi GMbH were 'struggling' to keep the power DOWN to 450bhp !!.. they were concerned with gearbox reliability and general driveability. I too had heard that the EUC limits the fueling to the engine so that the turbo and engine don't get too hot and the life span is decreased. I also have heard that the boost pressure in the turbo's is not very high.

This obvioulsy makes it a tuners dream.. and there is already talk of 700bhp being acheivable ... (an Audi source has told me that the gearbox is only good for 650bhp.. so be careful!!)....

i wonder if Wolfgang at MTM knows any thing about the fuel regulators.. I might give him an e-mail. These types of pumps are often controlled by the ECU now so it might just be a matter of changing these codes...

a very good point... I will try to find out more

    Cheers
    Dave

All Audi's and VW's share the same crappy mechanical fuel regulator which is supposed to allow 3 bar (44 psi), but in reality they only allow 2.5 bar (37 psi).
This week-end I should have an adjustable fuel regulator set to 4.2 bar (56 psi) fitted to the S6. I think it should improve further the cars' performance, even more so because the S6 is chipped. Why did I not think of that earlier!

The only three Audi's we don't have here, are the RS6, RS4 and S4, hence I don't know what sort of fuel regulator they have.
As for the RS6, I would not be surprised if the limitation of fuel is simply mechanically controlled. Maybe you could check that out.

The RS6 turbos are at 0.85 bar.

The Sportec one is pushing 1.15.

I think mine in the 2.7T are around 1.3x.

It's funny to notice that the Sportec RS6 is just 0,1 s slower I guess than the 575 Mranello to 160 km/h.

    uff:
