    RS4 oil temperature

I seem to be getting the following numbers (not urban driving but rather mixed on b-roads + autobahns):

    Relaxed driving: 97-103 degrees C
Spirited driving (not all out thrashing): 104-112 deg. C
    Track: no clue

The above is with air temperature in the 15 deg. C area in the sun.

Is this normal or a little high?

What is the max allowed then? Usually its 120 on most cars.

Went all the way up to 125C on the track.

120C is kind of the max you want when using fosil oil but with synthetic oil you can go much higher without any problems.

So 112C is well within the limits

    Cheers,

I had the same questions because it does seem to run hot (I get similar figures to what you quoted). Check out the owners manual though, these are well within the guidelines it specifies.

I have seen 134 C on the track @ 7 laps of hard thrasing on a 28 C day with high humidity. As for the rest of the temps, it all sounds like it is in line with what others have experienced all across the web.
