A bit dissapointed.
The only disappointment for me is the little power increase over the current S4, this might be a price to pay for it being on sale at the launch. Why no valvelift or is it a case of fourtitude not including it in their description of the S5. The torque has increased by a whole 10% which is interesting and will make for a powerful mid-range.
As I have already said it won't compete with the M3 on acceleration but on everything else it will be right at the top of it's game.
The S5 alloys don't half look like the ones on the M6.
Search and you will find the truth.
I think the 4.2 V8 on the S5 does have Valvelift, it just doesn't have that much hp benefit. Also there is nothing about S-Tronic (DSG) in the press release.
To the best of my knowledge it won't be rolled out until the A4 but I could be wrong about that.
Maybe Valvelift benefits torque and it's spread more than out-right power, if the case then that's OK by me. I prefer torque to power anyway, it's one of the reasons I preferred the S4 over the M3.
Search and you will find the truth.
Sorry but the S5 will not have valve-lift it only will have a power hike of 10 hp over the old S4 engine to 354 hp.
His 0-100 Km/h time looks good though 5.1 secs, that is 0.5 secs faster then a S4 and only 0.3 slower then a RS4.
And here is a size comparison with the A4.
Hans.
Don't those S5 wheels look like 19"?
Actually, if you look on audi.de it says the wheels on the A5 are 19 inch, then on the S5 page it says those wheels are 18". Must be a mistake.
http://www.audi.de/audi/de/de2/neuwa...sstattung.html 19 zoll
http://www.audi.de/audi/de/de2/neuwa...sstattung.html 18 zoll
In the press release they say about wheels:
Standard on A5 - 17'
Standard on S5 - 18'
The shown 19' seem to be optional

On the german Audi site they are talking about "intelligent body structure" made of a combination of aluminium and steel.
If it is the same as on the TT (front out of aluminium) , this would mean less weight + better weight distribution.
The 5.1 sec 0-100 for the S5 are one indicator.
It seems to be getting better and better.

Torque vectoring will be there that is for sure. They are hardly going to give the standard A5 it and not the sportier S5, now are they.
The thing I will say is that based on these power figures, I doubt the RS5 will have a 5.2V10 but will be a up-rated version of the RS4 engine with a power hike of maybe 15~20hp.
Search and you will find the truth.
Latest pics look great, I'm now a firm fan, although I still reckon it could have been a bit better. It seems to be considerably lighter than an S4 to better its 1-100 figures so much, despite larger dimensions. Good stuff.
Looks like the BorgWarner's TorqTransfer Systems.

I am very much disappointed, when AUDI builds finally times stronger engines with benzinern and for Diesels. thus they will never be able to keep up with BMW even in the 3-bmw gibts 286 hp strong Diesels sowas search one with the A6 in vain and when AUDI does not build finally times new engines always the old upgraden like the 2.0l or the Diesels we needs new engines!!!
