Audi A3 3.2 quattro developing 250 bhp

The top engine for the top version: the new Audi A3 3.2 quattro is to be outfitted with the most powerful version of the 3.2-litre V6 engine, developing 184 kW (250 bhp) , as soon as it appears on the market in autumn 2003. The V6 musters its maximum torque of 320 Newton-metres over the 2,500 to 3,000 rpm range; its maximum output is achieved at 6,300 rpm.

It has consequently gained an extra 7 kW (9 bhp). The technical basis for this added power is a modified exhaust tract. An added bonus for the driver is the overtly sporty sound that makes the V6 a real pleasure from an acoustic viewpoint, too.

The potent six-cylinder engine - that is used with the same power rating in the Audi TT 3.2 - propels the range-topping A3 from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6.5 seconds. The A3 3.2 is capable of a (governed) top speed of 250 km/h. Equipped with such performance, the second-generation A3 is all set for a career as a top athlete in the field of premium compact models.

i doubt audi will have trouble selling these cars as the premium
compact segment seems to be expanding. in the U.S., it is being
said that we will have the 5 door with the bold new "shield"
grille. we'll have to wait to see.

When reading about this you start to wonder that the upcoming S3 will have under the hood.
...and if there will be an RS3, what will there be under that hood?

Hello everyone !

I've heard that the new S3 will be released at the beginning of 2004, it will have the V6 with 280 hp.

There wille be also an RS3 with a V6 twin turbo of 350 hp (I hope so because we are waiting for it since 2000)....

I've also heard those rumours. But as I said...those rumours. You can only hope that Audi will come to sense and built an RS3.

I don't think the S3 will have 280 bhp.
simply becouse the S3 will have to get under the 6 seconds to get to 62mph (100kph)
and with the "current" model let's make that old model the s3 has 45 bhp more then the highest available bhp in the A3.
so I'm guessing it will have atleast 290 bhp if audi is nice it will have 300

and think about it.
people wont spend a hell of alot more money for "just" 30 bhp.

and i don't think there will be a RS3 becouse audi will have a difficult choice that is if they will have more bhp then the s4.
if it get's more then the s4 it will be faster then the s4 and more expensive then the s4.
again i really doubt there will be a rs3 ofcourse i hope there will be

but then again, that's like saying audi would not have made the RS 4 just because it would have more power and spank the S6. the smaller RS model is expected to beat the larger S model

Hi ! My brother has bought the new A3 2.0 FSI Ambition (150 happy hp:s)
The ambition model has a sportchassi and is equiped with 17´wheels etc.
It is a great car and we have driven quit fast in hard corners, with and without the ESP. The interior and exterior design is outstanding too.
But for an extra ca.100 000 sek u get 100 extra hp:s, that could be worth the waiting.
