    Audi S8

    Hello Gent's ,

    Just wanted to see if we can see how many here have the new S8.
    Wondering what you current owners thought of the car would you ever modify it someway, ie. exhaust, wheels etc.
    And if anyone knows of any available modifications for the car.

    Personally I would just change the exhaust and get a little more bite, ok alot more growl out of the sound. The V10 needs to breathe and needs to be heard a little more than the stock form is allowing it to do so.

    Wheels, I wouldn't change them, the OEM's are so damn hot looking I dont see myself changing them for anything out there. I would like to get some wheel spacers though as the wheels need to stick out further to be almost flush with the fender lines.


    Overall impressions after 2600 miles so far, Astoundingly great and a constant and repetetive WOW. The car drives like its a sprts car for the most part unless you get into some serious curves at a high rate of speed. Otherwise if feels glued to the road.

    I talk about this car and its dynamics more than any one of the two Bentley Continental GT's I have owned. And frankly my family and friends are so tired of me praising the car to them. Oh well, what do they know .


    Driving impressions aside the cabin is luxurious and everything is where it's supposed to be and feels like it has been custom made just for my car.
    I will be installing my Passport radar/laser detector soon, it ought to be fun as there really isnt that much room by the drivers foot well area. Yes I have removed the covering and really this thing is so damn well insulated its gonna be a toughie.
    But hey I did my own downpipes on my RS6 so this is not gonna be a biggie at all .


    Driving around with the tranny in "S" mode the shifting is lighting quick and precise and the sound of that V10 at 7200rpm's is music, I can just imagine what it will sound like with a full cat back Milltek exhaust system, if they ever get around to making one. I did contact Milltek last year after I purchased the car and they said they will probably have something in the works mid March. We shall see.

    Well I hope this wasn't a boring read for you guys I just wanted to share my experiences and thought's on a great vehicle.

    I was the skeptical one when the S8 came out and realized just how wrong I was.
    I still think though that they could have juiced more power out of the V10, but thats just me always wanting more power.

    Congrats and thanks for the nice report. The new S8 really is a fabulous, gorgeous car. We just got a new S6 but thought seriously about the S8, too. Tough choice, but ultimately the smaller car won out.

    I don't think I'll modify it at all, as I'm too mean to spend any more cash on it!

    Saying that, if money was no object, a nicer exhaust note inside the car would be good. (Apparently it sounds like a monster from outside) With another 100 bhp it would be stunning and I'd really like to have the horrible fly by wire throttle reprogrammed. There seems to be nothing in between 'crawl' and 'blast' when coming out of a junction and I hate that dead area when you first press the pedal, although it's less pronounced in 'sport' mode.

    I don't regret in the slightest replacing my RS6 with it, but will probably look long and hard at the new RS6 when it eventually surfaces.

    I am loving my black/black s8 as it is. I normally do quite a bit of tuning to my cars, but what makes this s8 so amazing is tht it needs nothing. I could see doing the exhaust but don't think I will. Only going to do a valentine in the rear mirror. This was a great replacemtn to my rs6, but it is nice to have a true sports car as a pair to it.

    Congrats to you on the S6, sweet ride that is. I LOVE the wheels on the S6, best wheels on an Audi so far. I needed a bigger car than the S6 and that is why the S8.
    3 kids blah blah blah you know the shpeel and I needed to get back to Audi as the other brands I tried just werent "there" for me.

    Kev, your first sentence made me LOL !

    I agree with you about the touchy go pedal, it really can be a nuisance at times.
    Especially in S mode. But in time you get used to it and learn to feather it or stuff starts flying around in the car.

    I have been postponing doing my Escort SR7+shifters as it looks like a helluva lot of work. Had the drivers kick panel out and there is not alot of room for the stuff that needs to be in there. I will def. be tackling it soon as I need it bad, the Solo I have needs batteries almost every 2 days.

    Did you feel any increase in power after the first 1,000 or more miles?

    I didn't mine had 1600 when I bought it.

    I just LOVE to read such things...LOL....I figured a guy who OWNED two Continental GT's would have a private "Mechanic/CAR Slave" do everything..L....

    Please tell more on the Downpipes DIYSelf.

    don't forget the kit from adr that integrates the v1 through the can-bus to the drivers display. an expensive "must have" for those wedded to the valentine.

    for others, a good reason to go valentine!

    It sure does help that I have an auto repair shop, that is for sure.


    Oh and the DP's were a PITA, i will find the thread.
