I pulled the rad this wknd.
Found the leak was from the cooling fan cross brace chaffing on three of the rad bars. Pin hole size leaks.
Got lucky and was able to braze them shut with some map gas...
Cool, will have to take a look.
Thanks!
I've got a small leak on the right side where the core is crimped to the plastic end tank.
My question is, since I've got the 01e and hence am not using the automatic trans cooler, what options...
My car was slipping the AMD. Cannot remember if it was 3 or 3+.
Ended up going with a custom unit from southbend.
Sure!
Well, the weather is getting better, so I have been getting the itch to take her out of hibernation!
See, this is what happens when you go new car shopping, the RS got jealous...lol!
Unitronic is another option. I went with their stage 2+ with pulley. Very happy.
Recommend them over apr, based soley on customer service alone.
I would have gone with EPL dual pulley, but was...
It adds up fast as you end up doing a lot of ancillary work while you have the motor out.
And it couldn't be any further from an LS. There is very little information out there for support aside...
Level of quality and attention to detail "seems" to be better.
My SRMs came in BW boxes, so I felt they were legit. However, one of the compressor housing inlets was never bored out to properly...
I went with the srms.
If I were to do it all over, probably would have went with TTE units.
As all have said before, there is no room, too many lines, too much custom fab to stray away from...
Southbend stage 5
No slip, chatters a lot! Lol!
Holding 600ftlbs.
Doesnt mind launch control.
Air chisel in the plane of rotation...same approach as removing a viscous fan clutch.
Use an air chisel to brake it free.
Replace them with new plugs after.
Contact Marc at EFI Express. He is very responsive.

Nope. They added the patch to unlock the higher fuel map. It is far from stock now. Between the shitty stock manifolds and the restricted turbo hot sides, the heat isnt leaving the cylinders fast...
I have the srm k24s. They are ok.
EFI Express could only get 24psi out them with full spray before knock started. So 27psi sounds a little aggressive.
Next year i think im going to swap them out...
Marc at EFI express can also tune for the 01e. He did my car.
Driveline vibration maybe the front axles if they are FEQ remans or other. I was able to source OES GKNs which helped. Some vibration...
Need to lower subframe to tip rear of engine down for access.
Oxy-acetylene torch, long extension and triple square socket.
And lots of patience.
I'd also have new hardware handy.
Yes.
It is not a fun job to do in-car, but can be done.
Yup, same place I got mine before we became a Milltek dealer.
They ship very fast too.
Having worked on all of these, MB, BMW, Audi -
I would have to say I am still partial to Audi.
In my opinion, BMW has declined drastically in both fit and finish, not to mention reliability....
Heat is your friend - use a torch and they will all come out easy.
Belly pan present?
What kind of oil - engine, power steering, transmission? Connections for all of those are present in the left front of the engine.
Yes, I read this the other day.
I was surprised at his favorable comments towards the RS6, but then defaulting to the M5. Must have been a forced requirement to keep his job...LOL.
