Well Qisha your the only one who can confirm 100% if its DEAD... :( ALIVE.... :)
Pls let us know soon.... ;)
i think it died. we'd have seen some kind of mule by now. next exciting thing is the r8 replacement. hopefully we see a concept in 2012.
In a interview with "Michael Dick" Board Member for Technical Development ...he said to a question.
The nice looking Quattro that we all saw a while back, might not be financially viable, so we will have to see
So my presumption , we will see a lot of it back in the next TT.

The best report from IAA 2011 by far...

Still the best picture of the car.
Maybe we will see styling wise something back of it in the Next Gen Audi A5 and with a 4.0TFSI engine.

I'm still hoping for a RS5-based lightweight version of this, I'm sure it would be a big succes...
I would not mind if this end up as the next TT with a new roof line.

Given the flexibility of the new MQB platform, this shouldn't be too much of a disappointment. I am sure that next generation TT will get lightweight treatment including extensive carbon fibre body parts and aluminium suspension components to drop its weight by at least 100 kg. Add more powerful 5-cylinder engine and cool styling and we should get something that's none too shabby and not too expensive.
Hardly a surprise! Audi have become more about chasing lighting technologies, drive-less steering and sub 100g emissions than - driving fun...
Very nice Museum piece.

Nice picture of the car in the real world.
Interesting, I liked both. I do admit it has that stout look. :D
I simply think the car does not look that good on most pictures.
The pictures that the car look good on, can be count on one hand.
Chunky, stubby. short. no like.
If no-one else likes it, no problem Audi. I'll have it, thanks. :D
I wonder if we will see this design style in the next TT or in the next A5. ?
I wan't that car!!
It looks like the new "Quattro wil go into production in 2015, and "NOT" as a limited edition, but as a high volume production model on a shortened A6 floorplan.
Neuer Audi Quattro ab 2015: Sportwagen auf A6-Basis ohne Hybrid-Antrieb - AUTO MOTOR UND SPORT
power to weight close to current r8 V8 but with 4 seats and less sexy. i guess someone will buy it. how will they differentiate it from the a5 coupe other than it is a hatchback?
"Das Design des in Frankfurt vorgestellten Prototypen will Hackenberg noch einmal schärfen – offenbar war er mit den Entwürfen, die noch unter dem zum Jahreswechsel zu Italdesign Giugiaro nach Italien wechselnden Designchef Wolfgang Egger entstanden, unzufrieden."
Hackenberg was/is not happy with the design of the current quattro (designed under Wolfgang Egger) and he wants to "sharpen" the design a little bit for the production version.
Let's hope he sharpens it more like the first Quattro Concept ;)
I hope they will sharpen the first quattro concept more, with more design elements from the "original quattro sport".
Audi R5 and New quattro names are apparently referring to the same car.
A front longitudinal engined quattro car based on a shortened A6 floorplan, placed between TT and R8.
German quote from Auto Motor und Sport.

Sport quattro concept to Production.
First and foremost is the Sport quattro concept.
The idea of a quattro concept first came to light while Michael Dick was at the post, though that original smaller, lighter 5-cylinder turbocharged coupe has evolved to a larger GT that would share more with the architecture of the next-generation A6/A7 range since it was reinvented last fall under the direction of Hackenberg.
According to Top Gear, Hackenberg has stated that the original Sport quattro concept’s projected boutique status with $100K plus pricing would have to be adjusted in order for the car to see production.
The way to do that, he suggests, is to add more of range of engines including cheaper offerings that could bring the price range lower and thus raise projected volume.
This would have to be done in order to justify the level of investment necessary to build such a car.
In order to build this, that means it would position between the TT and the R8… though where that leaves offerings like the RS 5 he didn’t say… or Top Gear didn’t mention if they’d asked.
If it does get built, Top Gear suggests it would hit market around 2016-2017.

Audi quattro Concept.

Der neue Audi sport quattro wird sich technisch am kommenden A6 (C8 ) orientieren.
Kein kleines Auto also.
