Hi folks,
My first post. I have a new to me 2004 RS6. In order not to void warranty, my dealer offers the GIAC ECU/TCU chips. Does anyone have any negative comments about this product? All responses welcome.
Thank you in advance.

This is a loaded question. The best way I can say this without opening a can of worms is to recommend steering clear of GIAC, and leave it at that. If you're worried about warranty issues, find a tune that offers a flash loader to allow you to flash back to the stock map when you go in for warranty service. Search Viper and Eurocharged, there's plenty of info here. Welcome aboard by the way.
2004? outisde the US? or imported from Canada
EPL tune, I wont say more then that because i have no experience with the others but can vouch for the EPL one and the services that goes with it. You will find that everyone has there own opinions so be prepared for everyone to respond in different ways.
Now you say 2004??? where are you from?
Oh and the Giac tune is being done by the dealer for you?? Oh you must be from Toronto and have gone to Pfaff tuning LOL you may want to PM me so we can talk and FAST!
Sorry, my response has much more than opinion to back it up. I can drag out the data logs all over again if needed. In addition, I dont really wish to drag out the GIAC data logs and play the dead horse beating again. The guys have all seen the footage.
Please post up your EPL tune data logs for others to inspect. Should be fun to see some concrete data.
still have warranty??!??! extended or something? btw/... for North America! 04 = Canada! haha
or we can group buy from Canada! LOL
wait a minute.... GIAC is also datalog proven... isn't it?
but..... it was proven..*blank*..........
As for the TCU, it is a no brainer. Go with MTM from Hoppen. Price is reason enough, but the Giac TCU chip is barely better than stock.
Here you go, but i am sure most have seen this already,
Blue is Stock, Green is with the tune, Red is with Custom Turbos.

DHall: The GIAC logs aren't only from my car only, correct?
If so: A = Bad Torque converter, B = Tune was probably the first revision that GIAC ever sold.
Next logs will probably be done in the spring with new/latest GIAC revision as well as a 6 speed, so no longer an apples to apples comparison.
So dyno sheets mean nothing... and my Vbox is "not the approved RS6 tool to measure" looks like your S.O.L but if for some reason someone has a "better idea" i'm all ears, Unfortunetly its snowing here today so i'm not going to go out and try to run any numbers and with the salt all over the place it looks like its going to be aWhile till you see numbers from my car.
I have no idea where you pulled that dyno sheet from.
Dyno sheets from retailers dont hold much water for me.
I dont think anyone here is challenging your pbox. But, if you have some data to add via Vagcom, what tune you have and the gains....that would be helpful. The last time I checked your car was stock.
I'm done with this thread. You all can have the epenis sandbox.
Hmm testy...(no pun intended)...
While I agree that dyno sheets are not a reason to buy something, I think the graphs show the potential and the delta between the before and after, forgetting about the hp/tq numbers. Coincidently, my stock curve looks very much like the stock one in the post above.
DHall1 needs all the data in one format to effectively compare tunes. If one of use uses Dynolicious, another Mustang another... we cannot compare HP and torque without knowing the differences between the measuring devices. The same with VAGCOM, VBox verus other data loggers. Let's all get on the same tuning, dyno, datalogging page!
