The german's call them "RS-schalensitze" and the seats that the US gets are Recaros.

So technically you have the RS-spec flat seats (however incorrect my translation is), NOT the Recaros which look like this:

Pic is from an RS6 but the RS4 recaros are similar.

Sorry but these seats are not the RS4 V8 Recaros. Those are the old Recaro from the R4 or RS6 (biturbo).

The new one look much nicer. Don't have some pics to post yet though.

That is why I wrote "Pic from RS6". The general form is the same though.

These are the RS4 V8 Recaro seats (standard for USA cars and no cost option in the UK/Europe)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the "bucket" RS4 seats shown above are made by Recaro so technically they can be called Recaros.

EDIT: here's pic showing Recaro's awsome seats: RS4 bucket on the left, Porsche GT on the right.

yes that's correct

Since both types of seat are made by Recaro, they can both "technically" be called Recaros - but that's not very helpful!

The Audi literature refers to the bucket-style seats as "RS4 bucket seats", and the other seats as "Recaro Sports seats" - so to refer to them in any other way is just going to cause unnecessary confusion!

Don't do it guys.

The seats that Stephan is offering here are the ones that Audi decided NOT to offer to ANYONE in the USof A !
So its safe to say there is no option for these seats here through Audi.

If I had a Audi A4/S4/RS4 I would be all over these, literally :D

I'm well aware of that and I think that's a bad call by AoA, but since this is an international forum, the descriptions used have to be accurate and no-confusing for those of us in the RoW that DO have the option of either type of seat.

BTW some owners in the UK who chose the bucket seats are now having problems with them wearing and distorting (i.e. taking on the shape of the bottom of the driver) after very few miles, in some cases less than 1000 miles. So maybe the bucket seats are not such a good thing after all?

Glad you are happy with them. Lots of people aren't.

Look at the state of this one which is less than 2 months old.

Certainly be careful about choosing them especially if you are not slim.

As I said, it depends on your size. The guy who owned the seat in the pic wasn't slim but many average guys who've got largish thighs have had problems getting comfy in the seats too.

Nice seats is all I meant to say, and yes I know this is an International forum as I have been here awhile.
Maybe a detailed description wasnt necesary to me as I forgot I wasnt the only one here :D .
They do look considerably different from the other choice.

Bottom line is the seats are nice and those pictures of the ruined ones is sad.
Nothing Audi Warranty wouldnt be able to straighten out :hahahehe:

I not surprised that the buckets are showing this kind of wear, any seat that has a high thigh support will, you usually seat partly on this as you get into the seat and over time this will give way and lose it's shape.

Oh, by the way, in Australia the Recaro Bucket Seats are actually called the Recaro Butt Clenches and the Recaro Sports Seat are the Recaro Fat Ass Seats.:D

Thought this might just be how it translates into English.:hihi:

Or for those of us with back injuries (I have a misplaced disc in the lumbar region).

I have an RS4 Avant with the Recaro Sports seats, and was in an RS4 saloon yesterday with the bucket seats for less than 2 hours - and it was getting quite uncomfortable, I couldn't do a day's driving in the bucket seats.

P.S. I'm 1.8m tall and 78kg weight.

In Australia the RS4 comes standard with the "buckets " and are extremely comfortable.Getting in and out through is an art that can be mastered .The sport seats only come as an option for the fat arses or those that want full electrics and are the same as the OZ spec S4.Of the 53 RS4 sedans sold ..all were with the buckets.
