I am sorry that it took me so long to upload some pictures of my Baby arrived 1st of april. the pictures are not brilliant but i only had my sony video camera. Next time i will take my Digital Camera. And by the way, the weather in Switzerland is miserable, i had to wait the whole morning to catch 5 minutes where it doesn’t rains.

You're welcome. I can host more RS6 pics if anyone likes.

I plan to install a gallery like the one bmwm5.com uses anytime I feel the motivation to pay 150 USD plus the installation.

Is that the daytona grey? Car looks very sharp- I wish we could get the Avant here in the USA. Do you have the wood dash or the carbon fiber?
Keep the pictures coming.

You're right Benman. The only thing that is not common is the steering wheel. i chose the comfort cause you can controll radio, cd player, cell phone etc very smooth.

I hope the weather here in Switzerland will be better in the next days. It's not really a challenge to upload pictures of a new RS6 that is dirty.

To all waiting RS6 Fans : It worth to wait. :bye:

I have a technical question. Please excuse my bad english. When i start the engine of my RS6, after about 10 seconds you can hear a sound like a jet engine would start. First i thougt the engine's fan is cooling but that's not the sound.

Now i think its the turbo charger starting to increase the pressure ("Ladedruck" in german).

Am i right ?

Is it not the A/C or any other ventilation?

I'm not an expert but why should the turbos charge when you're standing still? They need more rpms than just idle.

I think you're correct Thilo. At this point I'm guessing too since mine hasn't arrived yet but I think it's safe to say that the turbos will take a few seconds to spin up at idle right after the car is started. I would be very surprised if this is not the case. :hmm:

That's true Erik but even at idle they are spinning. The turbo's will have a much lower rpm when the car is at idle then they will at higher engine rpm but they will still be spinning enough that you would be able to hear them IMHO.

Sure. I know my 2.7t turbos quiet when starting but there's a whining sound under full acceleration.

Thilo, compare with this sound. If you listen carefully you can hear the A/C coming on etc.

I know exactly the noise you guys are on about and I'm sorry to dissapoint,

but it's not the turbos.. you can only hear them at about 6000rpm making a whine sort of noise.. very nice above the roar of the V8

The noise you guys here is a fan behind the sat nav and telly to keep it all cool. If you have been on a long journey with the CD and sat nav on the fan continues to run until it cools down. The TV intergrated unit produces loads of heat and the fan keeps it all from melting.

I don't think the turbo's do spin at idle... the dump valve would need to close first for the pressure to rise.

Cheers
Dave

You can only hear your turbos at 6000rpm? I think you've deafened yourself with the Bose turned up too loud mate! :p

You certainly won't hear the turbos spooling up at idle, you can sometimes hear them at about 3000rpm (if you don't have the stereo on!). Mine seem to be noisier sometimes after a hard run, perhaps I am just more in tune with the car then?

The fan behind the Nav+ can be a bit noisy, you can often hear it running on after the car is shut down. Somewhere there's a hidden menu on the Nav+ unit that you can access that tells you it's temperature and if the fan's on or not.

The "jet engine" whine that spools up after start could be any number of things, in fact it could possibly be multiple things at once, which is why it has such a distinctive sound. My money would be on some kind of fan in the engine bay that dumps air through the vents into the front wheel arches. Why it does it when it's cold, I don't know? :hmm:

Anyway, who cares what it is - it sounds great and it's certainly audible from outside the car judging the the odd looks people give to the thundering, jet engined batmobile-in-blue they see rumbling past... :D

Very nice!!! About the steeringwheel, I can understand you orderd that one, the confort of managing radio, cruise control etc... is very nice...

Thank god you haven't god such an ugly BIG "CH" sticker on the back of your car!
Sorry for the bad English, I'm a bit drunk right now :D
