So far there has been quite a lot of car magazines around the world that have tested the new TT, but as yet no official performance figures from any of them, why?

In the U.K. Autocar, Auto Express, Car and Evo have all tested it, but quote what Audi state in their press release. So far the R32 has done a 0-60mph in under 6seconds and 0-100mph in 15seconds and it's weight is 1560kgs, that a full 150kgs heavier than the TT. Surely the TT3.2v6 will post a 5.5seconds 0-60 and the 0-100 in the low/middle 14s.

Now if or more likely when the TT gets the S3 engine, that will amount to 272hp and 1300kgs, it will get very close to the Boxster S or even the Cayman S's times. And all for at least £4K+ less. :wo:

If the TT gets the S3 engine it will have 260 hp / 191 kW and will weight ± 1365 kg.

Iceman,

I take it, German Car Fans are wrong quoting the S3 will have 272ps(hp). I quess I was under estimating the weight a little at 1300kgs. Still it should be quite a bit better than the TT3.2v6, not only because of the less weight and the extra power, but because it should have a much greater amount of torque to play with.

I'm wondering will this model be the TT/S, or more likely a stand alone S-Line model with all the body parts and a slightly tuned engine leaving the way for a possible 300hp (3.6vr6) TT/S and a 350hp (3.2vr6 Turbo) TT/RS, here's hoping.

I definately think that the TT 3.2 with S-Tronic will do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. Audi quotes the time as 5.7 seconds, the much heavier A3 with the same engine and S-Tronic does it in 5.8 seconds.

The TT should be 300-400 pounds lighter, also other drivetrain parts are probably improved as well, it is very easy to cut 3 tenths of that time. 5.5 is definately achievable, with 5.4 or 5.3 possible. Remember that the new TT is 15 seconds faster around the Ring than the old one.

I'd agree with ya'. In fact, last I checked, the A3 3.2 is weighing in at (a quite porkly) 3660lbs vs the TT 3.2's (claimed) 3150lbs, a savings of 510lbs!!! Amazing if those figures are correct.

272ps (hp) quite conveniently equals exactly 200kw.

So this was either an optimistic guess by GCF, or the original intended output targeted by Audi.

I suppose Audi have to quote output figures that they can guarantee production engines would reach conservatively.

Didn't Mazda get into hot water recently in the states with certain cars not achieving there quoted horsepower.
