Erik,

I read it this morning, but forgot to look and see what the (0-30, 0-60, 0-100 and 100-0) sector time were between the M5 and the RS4. Overal there is only 0.6 seconds between them, a great result for the underpowered and underdog RS4.:rs4addict

Does anybody knows if in the test there is any performance data for 0-1 mile and exit speed for the RS4?

Apparently the reaction time for the RS4 was 0.72 sec., the longest which would/could have made it faster than the M5...

Can anyone verify?

As I posted in other forum the figures for the Veyron do not add upp!? Someone on that forum suggested they took the wrong brake times for the Veyron and that they should be one second longer.

I read the write-up in Autocar and there comments regarding the Bugatti was amazing and this included the braking. Like the Mercedes SLR, the Veyron uses it's wing as an air-brake and this together with the biggest brake area of any car and the largest tyre contact area, the Veyron produced an unbelievable stopping time. You also have to remember that it's DSG gearbox is like all the automatic car they have tested, unlike a manual in which you have to use a clutch and so when you reach the magic 100mph, you have to press the clutch in with your left foot and move your right foot from the throttle to the brake pedal, all this takes time. In the Bugatti when you reach the ton, you left foot brake, not clutching or moving your right foot, reaction times are minimum.

One automatically thinks because a car is heavy it's braking time should take longer, not always so, lighter car are more prone to locking up their brakes which will increase to time.

On a different subject, look at the time of the 997 Turbo and the RS4. Porsche quote a weight of 1660kgs and Audi 1650kgs, both have awd and the power difference is only 70hp. How come the Audi takes an extra 2.5 seconds to reach 100mph, either it's Porsche under estimate their power and Audi over estimate theirs or Audi under estimate their weight and Porsche over estimate theirs. Or is the Porsche's awd system better at putting the power to the ground than the quattro system. Something a miss.:vhmmm:

Anyone think the 911 Turbo time is a bit quick for 480bhp?

0-60 - 3.6
0-100 - 8.0

A little fettled perhaps?:mech:

The 911 does have a huge torque advantage but the Porsche is certainly out-punching its bhp claim. Anyone know if the overboost on the Porsche would have been active?

Sounds like a missed gear in the RS4. Other than the Veyron and GSXer ... aren't these cars roughly the same bhp / # ... i'm not through break-in yet so I'm reluctant to run a three gear redline to see if the RS4 requires a shift to reach 100 mph ... could be a third to fourth required for the RS4 ... the 60-100 seems suspect to me.
