Just wonder how many new RS4's (B7) owners are here on this forum?

Counting the ones waiting for their babies too :)

Counting those who already have the car, very few, I'd think. Perhaps, even one or two at the most. However, there could be quite a few waiters. I am one of the latter.

Hey John, Well my order went in 3/10/06. If it helps I got a printout of the order and it says i'm in I.S. Order Bank (05). A few others on the forum said they were in the same bank. We've all been told May-June sometime, but my dealer said at least June and that's if we're all lucky, since Audi was behind when they launched in Europe..

Do you have the mobile phone prep? I ask, because to my knowledge this would mean the cradle would be on the codrivers side in combination with the gallardo wheel, and i don't see it in your car.

He used to have the Misano Red RS6 Avant that you have been reading about. He reads here sometimes, but he's not active.

If you have any special questions I'd be happy to ask them for you. He's trying to get the color code for starters.

Awesome! I can't wait to see the color in person. Once I have the code, I should be able to secure a formula for the color in a few weeks time (sure beats a plane ticket to fly out and see it LOL).

As soon as I get it, I can make some spray outs up.

Audi's lease programs are horrible on the RS4 ... the lease rates are great on the Q7 ... but I bought mine outright ... the residuals were around 55-58% depending on mileage selections.

Don't lease the RS4 ... it really doesn't make any sense ... if its a payment issue put some more money down ... hold it forever.

How much Quicker/tighter than an S4 is it?

k2
June 8th, 2006, 14:55
I didn't own my B7 S4 for very long ... very hard to compare ... it is tight and very responsive ... I can tell that I am going to like the mechanical suspension A LOT ... this car is much quicker, in terms of response, than the 6 but that may be entirely due to wheel base and weight bias ... I will post a full review when I've had a chance to stretch her legs a little ... I think I'm going to like this better than my GranSport.

She's here!!!

Picked up my Avus Silver, Ebony, Premium RS today! Purchase - no lease on this baby - slightly under MSRP.

A more detailed review will follow in a few days, but my first impressions of the car are simple. I am absolutely awestruck. Of course there is no way to REALLY put it through its paces, but the engine is stunning in its response and the handling is like nothing I've ever experienced.

It looks like you could get it to absolutely CHUG gas without much effort, but it also seems like a you can squeeze the mileage if you want too - skip gears, early into 6th, etc.

I can't wait for morning. I think I'll take the long way to work!

I am a total TOOL.

I'm driving to work this morning and stop at my local Starbucks. I get my usual 4 shot caramel mach. As usual, I pay little attention to the cup or the top. I jump into the car and stuff my Grande cup into the dinky little cupholders crowded next to the parking brake handle ... well you know where this is going ... I spent the better part of my morning doing a mini detail on the interior ... I mean it looked like someone took a .45 and shot a full cup of coffee in the cabin ... what can you do but cry a little then laugh a little then admit your idiotness to your buddies on the blog. The Starbucks top had a small crack around the rim. Because the cup holder is burried, you have to pick up beverages by the very top of the container ... well the top held for about 1.5 secs then released and I dropped a nice sticky brown liquid all over the cabin.

WOW ... 70 miles and the darn thing smells like a Columbian Coffee factory ... well shes broke in now ... time to track her.

My car arrived with 37miles clocked.

Phantom black, black leather and carbon fibre inlay.

I went for sports suspension (not too hard at all), the tech pack (adaptive lights<really work>, 6 cd changer and sat nav<much like the S4 sat nav with a few tweaks>), black optic pack (looks stealth), auto opening lid (I'm a tart) and thats about it. Went for the buckets obviously and the 19inch alloys, as if there really was a choice.

It absolutely purrs with the S button on when crawling around town and then when you open up the throttle its sounds like a plane taking off. Which is a nice combination.
Still running it in so haven't pushed it to 8,250 yet. Have to 7000 though and that is a joy.

All in i reckon its the best thing i've done with my young life.
Trips are already planned. Two weeks in the southern Alps next month to get it used to high altitude Alpine passes. Then in August a long distance run to Sweden via Germany. Oh joy.

Viva RS4.

Add one more RS4 to the list. 61Km on the clock. Yellow with Audi Exclusive yellow interior piping and seat belts. Sports plus, Navigation, bucket seats etc. Will post pictures of it in my other thread once I arrive at my destination.

@k2:

One idea is to take the car to a car rejuvination place and let them do the thurough program to get rid of the smell and any stains. Even though I just got my car I am taking it straight to Mr.Cap for complete outer and innner treatment program. Definatly worth it for such a beauty of a car. Keeps it looking fresh longer.

Stinsy,

Great color ... very nice indeed :0:

No reason to get alarmed, but i believe your car still has the second pair of strut choks / blocks in it. It looks like it is sitting a little high. I suggest you call your dealer and confirm they removed the SECOND set of blocks ... there is one set that is easy to see (in the coils) ... the other is more difficult and sits on top of the strut arm. I don't have good pictures of mine on the board yet, but look at AudiHead's car ... that is the correct ride height ... again yours looks a tad high which has me suggesting you get it checked ... no biggy but it does help the cars handling.

Just a suggestion from someone who has been through this already.

I called and they said they did it. Thanks for the info. I assume you think the front looks high, not the back, right?

Exactly ... I just want to make sure folks are catching this because they are very difficult see ... and I can just imagine some techs not seeing them ... or simply checking it off the list not realizing there are a total of eight bloks ... not just four.

Is that an uneven driveway ? ... could be the illusion !!

Should get it tomorrow (wednesday)

Can't wait... I've been able to sit in it and even start and listen a bit... (before they change the spark plugs)

Avus Silver, black interior with carbon trims + Premium Package.

For some reason I'm getting Michelin Tires instead of P-Zero. Some people are telling me that I'm lucky but what about you guys... what do you think? (I don't intend to track too much)

I had Michelines when I tried it on the circuit of catalunya.... I did not like them, the shoulders are too soft for my tastes and the tires get too warm and soft when abused. I am very happy with my Pirellis!!! But hey, michelines are good as well is just a matter of tastes

Interesting that you felt the soft sidewalls on the PS2's. I felt that when I had them (OEM) on my GT3, but not on my current S4. I thought the Porsche N-spec tires where the only ones with the softer sidewalls.

I'll post a couple of pics as soon as I can have a couple hours of sun.

Hi Gazzab,

Tacot-net isn't cheap, however I've used them on several cars before and the results are outstanding. It costs $1,100 CHF for the application. Warranty is for 2 years. Protects against oxidation, etc, and for a black car it's nice to show it's beauty and have water just bead off the paint! There are cheaper solutions for this, but with a black car I wanted to keep it looking fresh from the very beginning. Keep in mind that other companies offer Teflon for cheaper, but only Tacot-Net has proven their worth for me. My Porsche was done 6 months ago and is still looking gorgeous.

Best,

Well, in all honesty, I never keep a car longer than 2 years anyway. ;)

However, yes after 2 years it's due for another round of treatment. I've never had to wax the cars though during the time I've owned them and only do a nice cleaning. That saves some cash over 2 years anyway... :race:

I'm anxiously awaiting the delivery of my RS4, should be this week or next. It's the NA sedan model, black and fully loaded. In making my decision I did a lot of research and I simply couldn't find anyone with anything negative to say about this car. I'm a little embarrassed to say that I haven't driven it yet but from what I've seen I believe that I'm in for a real treat. I was thinking about getting vanity plates myself, what do you think about;

YM3
M3KILA
I8ANM3

:-)

I'm looking forward to rejoining the Audi family (after a 15 year hiatus), they have finally captured (exceeded actually) the enthusiasm that I had for the company when the first quattro coupe and 5000's hit North America back in the 80's.

I'm also glad there's a forum where I can share my experience with / learn from other petrol heads / audi enthusiasts.

Regards,

ps.

Its to cover up the bumper inside I would think, its just a thin plastic shell over it. If you take that front plate bracket off you can see the metal bumper right underneath it.

ah ok, got it.. sounds very reasonable..

may be a optic just like as it is around the fog lights might be a great solution.. don't know exactly how it might look, but perhaps worth a trie... but don't think there is a part like this out to be sold...

I see what you are saying but I think that would look weird, it doesnt sit flush with the rest of the grill.

hello everyone, new guy just dumped a M3 and acquired a phantom black saloon. not to mention about the torquey feeling over the M3, superior quality made inside out. Very happy with it.

Oh, and I should mention we have a nice group of RS guys in HK here. cheers.

I'm looking forward to rejoining the Audi family (after a 15 year hiatus), they have finally captured (exceeded actually) the enthusiasm that I had for the company when the first quattro coupe and 5000's hit North America back in the 80's.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Why don't you give some time, I don't how long you have the car, and did you get it with 0 miles, but many members here, owners of the B7 RS 4 have expirianced great performance difference after 5000 km, than 10000 km and finally after 20000 km. aparently that engine need some longer ''running in'' time...

I just can't belive that B7 RS 4 Cabriolet could be so lazy, ask some of the other owners here, they will say it to you for them selfs...

The car simply lacks torque when you are used to driving an RS6. Test drive? There are only 300 RS4 Cabs in the US, so no, I didn't test drive it - you can't. Here's the real issue - this car isn't worth the extra money over an S4 or same money as an S6.

If straight line power is your issue that may be true. As far as Im concerned though, the RS6 (excepeting the one just released) all handled like crap (relativly speaking) when going round bends

Something's wrong here. I might be driving the sedan version but even with 5 big guys in the car we can still feel the torque (that's over a thousand pound of meat in the car!) So I can't see how the cab version (even if heavier) would feel so untorquey!

Have you had it checked?

:rs4addict Hello everyone,
Have just bought a September 07 Rs4 in Sprint Blue Metallic !!

I have lusted over this car since driving one at Silverstone at the launch of the R8, it looks fantastic from every angle and, you don't see dozens of them on the road, unlike the M3.

I have NEVER driven anything like it and can't wait to get it "on track" later this year.

I know it's a long way off but what am I going to replace this fantastic machine with ? !!!

Hi all,

I just joined the forum. One RS4 from Japan, Tokyo.
I got my Phantom Black RS4 (yr 07) with silver leather interior (comfort package) last month !! I used to be a huge fanatic of BMW, so far I drove a BMW 318 Msport MT, 330 Ci Cab (AT, Imola Red) and finally the BMW E46 M3 phoenix yellow (SMG). The 3 series I've driven so far were all amazing cars and the M3's 6 cyl engine is just great.
Reasons why I've bought the RS4 ? :rs4kiss:
1) Wanted to drive a manual car again
2) The new M3 was my first choice but the RS4's engine sound killed me !
3) Exterior design is just great, I've always been a big fan of sport sedans
4) Could not forget AWD great stability, my first car was a Subaru Legacy B4 2.0 Twin Turbo.

After a month of driving this beast everyday, I still need to get used to the clutch and the way the engine rev, it's so different from my previous M3 which engine rev'ed more naturally I think.:revs:
But needless to say this car is amazing and traffic jam is not a pain at all.
I often go to mountain roads, and the car reaction is so sharp and you never feel unsafe thanks to the 40:60 AWD and the Michelin PS2 I just bought. :incar:

I have been in the market for a new rs4 myself and have gotten hung up on the financial aspect of the transaction. I found this site that has what appears to be a very aggressive AUDI Lease (http://www.theleaseoutlet.com/Auto/Audi_Lease_Specials.aspx). If anyone has the time to look over this program and give me their opinion (as I have never leased before.)........many thanks in advance to anyone who might be of help.
