where can i find the same hood that is used on the Champion Racing RS6 i really like the looks of the vents and after installing the dahlback racing cold air intake (http://www.tjmmotorsport.com/store/product.php?productid=16161&cat=248&page=1) i think its better to keep the engine compartment cooler.

The RS6s that Galati and Pobst raced in the cars' final GT season (2005) looked much different, with extremely flared fenders, a bold silver-and-red paint job and slightly different hood vents. The vents are positioned about the same, but the later car's versions are recessed, with no cover -- slotted or otherwise. I think they look even better than the vents shown here, but others may feel differently.

I have pix but have had trouble posting here due to pixels issues. If you know how to access my pictures as jatwrite at audiworld.com you can see the red/silver car there.

Dear trex,

both Hoods are custom made, you will have to "install" Vents yourself.

Take a look at:

http://www.autoventshade.com/

here you can find all kind of Hood Vents.

PS: if you are willing to pay a lot of money, you can try to get a custom made Carbon Fibre Hood.

Actually there is a really ugly one out there with three vents.

That one is not that bad at all.

That's the one!:thumb:

RE Champion as a hood vendor: Champion Motorsport has been one division, with the racing division separate. In the past, at least, the racing division considered everything proprietary and sold nothing to the public, including hoods. That's the word I got when I inquired a year ago about a custom hood based on the racer.

Last summer I was in touch with another vendor via an intermediary who said that if I wanted to do a carbon fiber hood with reverse scoops similar to those shown in the red/silver racer, the first hood would cost about $20-30K. I thought, heck, if we got 20 owners to buy, that might work by spreading out the huge "first hood" cost. But then that vendor bowed out, determining our numbers were too few.

I sure hope those things are functional and significantly improve performance because they sure are butt ugly.

Ive just a received a reply from Champion-motors ,bad news im afraid:

Hello Saud,

The hoods used on our RS6 race cars were manufactured by our racing division.
They were one off pieces that were made solely for use on our race cars and were not offered for sale.

Thank you,

its a stock rs6 hood cut. they cut the under brace to get the vents to fit. but u cant use the hood shock or ull bend it without under suports. so u have to use hoodpins and a metal poll to hold it up.

A few facts about hood vents:

If the RS6 engine was properly cooled, it will be at least 20% more powerfull....

The MTM Hood vents, even if they are not the most beautifull ones are very efficient. They were designed in the wind tunnel at Ingolstadt. Oil temperature is 10 degrees celsius cooler at full boost in the summer. This is a lot just with hood vents ! ! !

Cheers from Paris,
Frederic

ya i can tell that one. they are pigs for overheating in the summer. ive heard the high end is alot more. and with the db intakes i can hear where it needs more air. im scared to know what shell do when she gets it. and can be cooler.....:MTM: did u notice that big of a difference when u did the hood?

well, trex, standard rs6 got the REAL seats .... someone in AOA determined that Recaro would be too hard for fine American arses so they deliver the nice cushy "sports" seat in NA market .... :applause:

I agree with you, the recessed vents without slats look better. If welded in properly the box-like cross section should add rigidity to the hood allowing you to keep the stock hood struts. That's important! [They also clear the Shelby paint stripe.]:hahahehe:
