Things have been finally kicked up a level, and now the East Coast Specialist, Glenn if I recall correctly, was sent to Latham to fix my car.

I was told that they were expecting to have it fixed today as Glenn could fix it in one day (without apparently needing to order any parts LOL).

I was to be called this evening with the 'good news' but no call so far and it's 8pm.

We shall see.

I understand they are going to refund me one month's lease payment for my troubles---that's better than a stick in the eye, but I rather an extended warrantee.

You're right, better than the ol' stick, but an extended warranty would be better. But didn't you lease the car and plan to turn it in anyway?

It's fixed.

After first just changing the control valves and the resulting 'still not right', the rear shocks had been finally replaced After that the car was reportedly handled normally but the mechanic could still hear something thumping. But they could not determine where that noise was coming from. They rebled the system three more times and when Glenn The Specialist worked on it they bled it again and then took the car back area appart looking for the cause of the thumb.

Early on I told them about the flash light that I lost back there while installing my IPOD link, but that was not the cause since they found that flash light.

I forgot to mention the Tiedown Strap which I use to hold my kids car seat in with! I had tucked it down when I removed the car seat to bring the car back in.

Get this.

The little rattle they could still hear was the BUCKLE of that strap!

So the extra two weeks was the dam STRAP.

The KEY point is, that they were able to fix the suspension WITHOUT the need of GLENN The Specialist which is great, but it took my insisting on them replacing the rear shocks.

So long story short, if they had LET ME BUY THE REAR SHOCKS back when they ordered the control valves they would have had it fixed in less than 2 or 3 days from the original drop-it-off date when the valves came in! (Plus or minus a few days for the 're-order on the valves' since they sent TWO left sided valves in the first place.

I pick it up tonight! We shall see if it is truly back to normal...I suspect now that IT IS.

:)

And that is what the dealer should have done in the first place!

Glad you have it back after all of that. How's it driving now?

Happy.

No clunking.

Ride appears normal, quick damping of road bumps.

The front, which was bottoming out on every little bump just before the repair, is back to normal (an occasional bottom out since the winter tires are larger in diameter than the summer tires).

I do recall the rear being stiffer when push on by hand, but the ride is ok so I'll have to wait until I see another RS6 for comparison!

On-star light is green.

Engine is ok after 35,000 service, but I have to go back to have the two other keys recoded to the car!

So all in all I think it's back to 100%. Now I can wait to get some new summer tires!

Sorry this thread was hijacked by another one where I update things.

The car is still screwed up and the front driverside shock is dead and the other is dying.

I am heading back on Friday.

I had the car checked out by a Porsche Mechanic who found a like in the front shock for SURE.

I think it needed a few hundred miles to make the subtle things I could feel noticable to another driver.......but a driver of Porcshes would have noticed it as I did.

Mike - do they not have a machine to test the shocks? When my partner had this problem, it did not tale more than 30 minutes to confirm it, right there in the shop - shock had on 3% left .... and they did not negotiate or came up with any other bs, ordered the parts and it was fixed in 5 days.
