You may find this interesting. It isn't often someone gets a chance to see
underneath the skin of the Carrera GT. This Carrera GT is a daily driver
(really) of the owner. He previously wore the clutch out on a twin turbo that he
owned. He was a bit taken aback at the price of a new clutch for it. Moving
onward, he buys this car. After some 1300 miles the clutch on this Carrera GT is
history. The owner didn't rely on the "launch control" on the GT in order to
preserve this clutch. So into the dealership for a $8000 clutch, which, when new
is almost a piece of art. These photos detail the work necessary to replace
this clutch. Each and every part was necessary to removal. Quite a bit of what
you see is held on with screws (a half a coffee can worth). If you are familiar
with the GT then you should recognize many of the parts. Some of the photos
show what is under the skin. You may notice in the second photo the wheel well
liners sitting on the tub shroud that covers the bottom of the tub.

Photo 2396 is the first shot of the motor, rumored to be used in the
Panamera.
Photo 2399 is the first photo of the clutch showing the ceramic disk.
Photo 2400 shows the result of slipping the clutch.
Photo 2402 is the transmission. A nice piece of work.
Photo 2409 shows the bottom of the tub and the lines for cooling, fuel,
and brakes.
Photo 2411 - OUCH
Photo 2415 shows the vacuum switch for the exhaust for sport sounds.

A last observation. The policy of Porsche is that the dealership technician
is designated to replace body parts. So, there is no body shop work expected
until you get into the tub sub frame. That will get the car a trip back to the
homeland for repairs.

That is ''super car'', there isn't anything simple with them.
