Hi all.
After the last good news (avant + cabrio), I´m after the avant for the end of the present year after 3 years of my E46 M3.

Sooo, my question is, what´s the difference in weight between sedan and avant??
Imagine you are seated in both wihout knowing wether its the sedan or the avant. Would you really notice any difference in handling between both of them??

Avant obviously will be slightly "slower" (see perf. on previous post). What I can tell you is that Sport Auto (great french magazine) tested the RS4 this month and they released the following figures (knowing this magazine generally gives slower quotes than German one) :

0-100 : 5s
0-200 : 16.8s
400m : 13.4s
1000m : 23.8s impressive ! RS4 B5 only 24.5s
100-140 in 3rd : 3.5s

This magazine is pro Porsche and BMW but after this test they are simply amaized with the RS4 on all features : handling, brakes, perf, engine, etc...

For info a 911 S is quoted 23.5s for the 1000m.....

Don't forget the latest AMS test where the RS4 got 4.4 sec to 100km/h and 15.6 sec to 200km/h. That is impressive!!

asolutely I got this one as well. As I said Sport Auto is very conservative in their chronos but this already shows great numbers specially for the 1000m

The controlled weight is 1732kg so I guess the avant should be in the region of 1780kg.

What amazes me is that there still isn't any official time for the RS4 on the Nurnburgring...

Reimon,

I'd imagine the performance difference will be extremely hard to spot by "seat of the pants" driving. Most of us in the US would take the Avant given the choice. Since we're not, we'll make do fine with the sedan. But for those able to score the avant, we say go for it. You give up barely anything performancewise, and besides, the heavier avant actually has better weight distribution the sedan.:D :thumb:

At least acceleration-wise, there will be barely any difference between the RS4 sedan and Avant. The sedan goes 0-100 in 16.6sec, the Avant in 16.9 - that's nothing. I really don't expect braking and handling performance to decrease.
