My first post. :D Although Iīve been reading it lately , cool guys here.
I am changing my S4(B6) for an RS4 , the beast arrives in early may . Canīt wait since last july , when at Barcelona (Catalunya Circuit) i drove the :rs4addict . Unbelievable .
The best Audi ever made.

And the question , after I saw the black mirrors on the "white" RS4 , I am thinking on painting it black in mine , Avus color by the way.

Just an idea , what do you think?
:asian: Thank you all :asian:

Hi and Welcome (officially)!

Instead of painting the mirrors yourself, or have a body shop do it, can't you just order the black optics package, and it comes with it?

One other option is to simply get the regular package, and order only the black optics mirror housings, once you get the correct part number. This way at least you know you will get OEM. I am sure you can always sell the shiny stuff to someone else.

Just a thought on other options.

Welcome :thumb: ,

I agree 100% with nene. Do not paint the mirrors yourself or have a bodyshop do it. OEM all the way.

Reason: when those parts are painted at the factory, they are baked @ 220-280 degrees F (depends on part and factory) and has a complete cure to surface. A collision shop will not be able to duplicate this and therfore the adhesion will not be as good.

Why is this important? Rock chips, and lots of them! A front facing part (like side mirrors) are exposed to constant freeway pebbles and stones. After time, the mirrors will look horrible and you'll regret your decision.

My opinion, if you can't order it (you should be able to) leave it alone, you'll be happier.
