Bonjour,

Just let you know that an Audi RS4 V8 with MTM Chip reached very recently 282 km/h:

I was thinking that rs4 can reach 300km/h

A stock B5 RS4 does 282km/t without the sppedlimiter..

and it had speedlimiter.I think that i could see 300km/h if it had not.It stopped accelerating at 275 km/h.

Just skip the speedlimiter and it will be good for 300 k! :rs4addict

(at least I think that :hahahehe: )

Wath power increase is with that chip?

I tought that stock b7 RS4 could do that.

Old S8 can reach that speed...

Hell, my B6S4 will do 270K. It should be able to do 300K no problem.:rs4addict

270K  ... you have the new land speed record i guess!!

But I also think 282 is quite a low topspeed for the new RS4

A chipped S4 B5 with stage 1 (312hp) at Dahlback does 272km/t
So a chipped RS4 B7 (420hp stock) that does 282km/t is not impressive..:noshake:

I don't think i'm setting any records. I believe the top speed of the 6-Speed B6 S4 is @ 167MPH drag limited. If my math is correct, that is @ 270KPH?:revs: I think Mc Burn had a video of himself doing a 0-270 run on here somewhere along time ago. It was pretty cool.

as i heard this video is from my country!

lol ik know 270kph is very realistic, but I said the record thing because you posted 270K... which is about 270.000kph :p

I was talking with a driving instructor of Audi while at the Nordschleife course organised with the RS4.
He told me that the car with no limiter (Pre production car) driven by Frank Stippler topped a 280 KPH on the long straight.

He also explained me that to reach 300KPH and over you have to start to spend some serious money to develop the aerodynamic of the Car. Due to resistance of Air you need much more BHP to increase the top speed and that would probably compromise the reliability of the powerunit.

Just found this on the MTM Homepage...
Currently only in deutsch, so I ran it through babelfish-translator...

Seems the 282 is a limited vmax modification - what does that tell you ?

Here it is:

For the new model of the AUDI RS4 with 4,2 V8 engine we developed a special kind of the Vmax abolition. In order not to impair the operating strength(more like reliability) of the high speed aggregate, we open the delimitation not completely, but set a new limit with 282km/h. This is done via change of the two ECUs. A new fact within this range is the help of different parameters in engine electronics, in order to grant an optimal achievement development and working reliability. The change can take place within 2-3 hours with us in the house, or on the transit period with one of our bases, which find you under the column mtm partners on these homepage. The costs are to euro inclusive at 1249, -. VAT, if necessary zzgl. installation or dispatch. In preparation are for this vehicle also exhaust systems, brake assemblies, wheel sets and landing gear parts. For questions our merchandisers Mr. left and Mr. Costakis are to you gladly at the disposal!

Anybody having some reliable infos for the limitation of the vmax ?

Rainer

Hello,

i think too it's not impressive that a B7 RS4 can reach 282km/h as some other cars still do the same.
More precisely, i think of the M5 E60 which can with Hartge modification of the top speed reach 320km/h
You can see it here (http://www.hartge.de/html/e60m5uk.html)
In the future, (maybe in a few months), tuning teams such as Abt or MTM will provide such performances for "the black widow" :thumb:

I love the price MTM is charging for software that doesn't even increase the performance of the engine (only delimits it). I can't expect them to have a good program out this quickly for the RS4, but that's still a ridiculous price for just a moved speed limiter. According to that translation, they didn't completely delimit it because they were afraid of blowing the engine?

I was told by Audi that for UK cars you can get passed the speed limiter by approaching the top speed 155mph in 5th rather than 6th. this should bypass it allowing a top speed of 180mph+. dont know where this is really true or salesman speak. Two days to go until my new baby arrives :rs4addict

Just received an official e-mail from audi. It says:
We will have in the future (from June) the possibility to increase the v-max limiter at 280 km/h (with additional costs) with full guarantee. If you remove the v-max limiter completly perhaps you will have problems with the Audi guarantee

and about my concerns for the wheel horsepower he says:<<
We know the statements of tuners that the RS4 have less then 420 hp. With our tests we have other results. The result of tests often depends from several conditions (wheather, altitude, gasoline quality....)>>

There are two possibilities at the moment, to increase the Top-Speed:

MTM-Chip ... V/max 282 km/h
Audi-Chip ... from Week 16 / 2006 on ... V/max 280 km/h ... Euro 2'700

They won't open the speed limiter totally (at the moment). Recently, a 'open' RS4 ran 297.2 km/h on Nürburgring-Track in Germany.

Is there anybody who can explain what happens and they don't remove completely the limiter?

I think it is impossible.A Porsche Carrera GT ran 294km/h. http://www.track-challenge.com/main_e.asp

Where did you found this information?

The information (297.2 km/h) was provided by a guy working at quattro gmbh.

Is it possible to please ask him what is the problem to the engine or the transmission after removing completely the V-max limiter?I am very interested to learn it.MTM removes it completely but does not give any guarantee because modifies the ECU completely.
(So they told me on the phone).

He told me something about "tyre problems" if they 'open' it totally. But honestly I can't believe, that this is the 'real' problem. Maybe part of the problem. I assume, that they have still engine problems, if you run the RS4 on top-speed for a couple of minutes ...

The same about tyres told me the greek distributor of MTM.When i was in Neckarsulm 1 month ago, a guy who works there told me, that the problem is the transmission load in sixth gear.Today i contacted ABT tuner and they told me that the ECU can not accept speed above 280 km/h.If someone wants something more they don't offer.I would like very much an "open" RS4.
