And you thought Phaetons were conservative and stealthy...

Now I have to put on some VW center caps and it's done.

That does nothing but cheapen the bentley name and VAG should do everything in it's power to stop anything like it in the future.

Imagine how Bentley owners feel, they have to get over the fact the cars are no longer hand made and exclusive, but VW wheels can be used on them and vice versa.

The Bentley GT and Flying Spur are built on Phaeton body structure, electronics and mechanicals. Get used to it.

My Phaeton looks a lot better than it did with the little stock 18" wheels. Maybe they would have sold better with the larger, more aggressive 5-spoke wheels?

Those Bentley wheels are hideous......

Get some 20 inch Audi A8 W12 wheels for the Pheaton or Bentley and then you'll see a nice car...

I think 19's are pushing it - which is why I went with the larger OD tires - to keep the sidewall height close to stock. (4.2" vs 4.5")

The job is complete - except a couple of the logos are a little bit off-center. Guess I'll buy another set and try to be more accurate in my application next time around.

Here's one photo. Sorry the car is dirty - need to wait 3 days for the decals to cure.

Can anyone say... "In your face?" :D

Paldi, they look alright.:thumb:

Oh, and BTW, to all the VW "haters", if it wasn't for the Germans buying out the "premium" British car makers (Bentley, RR), they'd go under like all the other British car companies. Or worse... they could be owned by Ford like Jaguar and AM!!!

However, I think my 5-spoke Bentley's are made in Germany or Italy...

no need to say anything.....These are the wheels you want on your Bentley or Pheaton

Paldi

Good choice! But I didn't want 20's because the sidewall height is only 3.8 inches and my roads suck. With a 19 inch wheel, you get 4.3 inch sidewall. Stock is 4.5 inches. Besides, I didn't want to copy Audi.

No offence Paldi but I think the Phaeton, altough a beautiful automobile is just a copy of the New A8......

VW owns Audi. There are considerable differences with the interior. The Bentley Flying Spur and GT are more closely related to the Phaeton than the A8 will ever be.

After all, they are built in the same factory.

Since the VW was designed and built before the current A8, don't you mean the other way around?:p

I would still rather own a 80k A8L than an 80k VW:rolleyes:

What about a $65k used 2005 A8L vs. a $45k used 2005 VW PhA8ton? Audi A8's are everywhere, how many Phaetons have you seen or driven?

Same engine/tranny, same air suspension, similar electronics, roughly the same size. Slightly better looking especially on the inside where you spend your time driving it. I might also add that the bigger tires I've installed made a huge improvement in handling. It doesn't feel like a 5,000 pound car anymore handling wise. But it still rides like a limo if I set the suspension on "comfort".

I would take the VW....no doubt about it, I guess the only car that would make me doubt is the previous generation Merc S class

I love the way Audi's look, I don't like VW's. It is just something about them. The only reason VW built the Pheaton is to prove that they could. I don't see many around where I am because if someone is going to spend 70k they will just go buy a Audi or a Merc.

The Phaeton looks a little bit funny" with small wheels and tires. It is it's major flaw. Some examples:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/Paldi/2005_Model_2_7.jpg
Clearly too much wheel gap.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/Paldi/P11edited9-13.jpg
Much much better. 20's and the car is lowered an inch.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/Paldi/DSC00023.jpg
Mine - lowered with 19 inch wheels and oversized "taller OD" tires.

The Phaeton is one ugly car..although the appearance is slightly improved with the new alloys, good move.

Do you think you'll like it's looks a little more after the RS6 motor is dropped in? That's the next mod.

I'm sorry mate but I would rather pay double the price for a Bentley any day. I'm not a VW hater at all as my first car was a VW Polo. When you drive the Bentley Flying Spur, it has a sense of occasion, it feels like an event, which therefore makes it more enjoyable to drive.

It will also look better on your drive way.
