Does anyone have anymore information on the 2.5 5 cylinder TSI engine? Bringing Audi back to its glory of 5 cylinder. 348hp sounds nice. Would this maybe go in a performance TT, maybe RS3?? or S5?? Maybe they replace the 4.2 in the S4 with this engine?? Same power much lighter. Would eliminate alot of the Nose heavy problems of the B6 and B7 S4s and it would blow the STI out of the water...

That 5 banger inline with that much power is doable easily. Hell in my UrS4 I had around 300. Whata a sleeper that thing was, suprised many a sports car back then.
Please enticen us with more.

Are my eyes deceiving me or is that a Supercharged AND Turbocharged engine:bow:

Man that has got to be a tremendous task getting that done in correalation.
Wow I say do it Audi do it.

Since the 1,4l TSI has the same torque as a normal aspirated 2,3, we can guess for a 2,5 TSI !!!
And Ford is also producing a 5 cylinders 2,5l engine for the new Focus.

I can't wait . . .

Cheers from Paris,
Frederic

VW introduced the TurboCharger engine concept a few years ago.

Supercharger part gives low end torque, turbo takes over at hight engine speeds. So they eliminate the "Turbo Lag" and the highrpm problems of Superchargers!

so add to that the system used by Lexus which pairs direct injection with regular intake manifold injection.....yikes that would be interesting....high specific outputs..

Well, that sounds good, for both power/weight reasons and marketing reasons. Back into the days with the Quattro 2,5 turboengines!

348 bhp from 2,5 l means almost 140 bhp per liter. Isn't that a little bit too much if you also want to keep making reliable engines, like Audi does now? (Although is twinturbo ofcourse)

Autobild mention that the new TT RS will have a 330 hp 2.0 litre Bi-turbo 4 cylinder (Twincharger ???) engine.
That is 165 hp /per litre.

RS2 was 315bhp from 2.2L

B5 RS4 was 380hp from 2.7L

Sport Quattro was 306bhp from 2.2L

That was very good car - I had two, 92/95. The 95.5 Avant had Lehmann setup with about 390 hp ... suuuuuper sleeper.  ... Still on the road with 220 k miles on the clock.

2.5 TSI would be nice, if it happenes :thumb:

Oh man you aint kidding, mine was a 94 UrS4 with just the chip and my brother had a 95.5 UrS6 his was stock until he got pissed that I walked away from him the way I use to, then he got the whole deal, S2 exhaust manifold, injectors, had to lower it, got MTM chip and that car just screamed, he sold it to a guy who is still driving it today and has no problems with over 160k miles on it.. What a screamer those engines were and their capabilities were astonishing from a I5 cyl.
Sorry I am getting of topic here just reminiscing about the first of the mass produced Audi wonder cars.
The only thing about those cars that sucked were the brakes (stock setup), they could not slow the car down and would overheat almost everytime.

we took the head off and ship to Heinz Lehmann directly (Hoppen arranged it) .... I also had Abt sports suspension on it and S6+ brakes (323 mm rotors).

Remember one of VA finests "sir, I have never seen a station wagon going that fast ...." :D

it is easy to get off track with some fond memories .. :thumb:

on 92 it was MTM II+ chipset/RS2M. Still got the chips somewhere (leftover after my friend totaled that car)

In Germany is already an TurboCharger on the market.

It's from VW and it's called Golf GT.
With 170bhp from 1.4 liters.

Think what audi can do with this technology :D

1.3L supercharged (500 were made) It was faster than the 1.8 16v golf 2 GTi (that my friends had round that time :bye: )

But in Germany most of such test are very technical. :(
They've only said that it has much torque, like a diesel.
And it can compete with much bigger engines like an 2.3 litre (na) engine.

Autocar and possibly evo have tested the 1.4 twincharger in the UK.
