There it is!!

The All-new 2007 Audi RS 4
More Power Under Greater Control
Combining motorsport technology with functional perfection, the all-new 2007 Audi RS 4 is a dynamic and sporty concept on the road, capable of thrilling its driver in every situation, whether in everyday driving or on the race track. September's Robb Report wrote, "Beneath the aluminium hood is the 8-cylinder heart of a race car." European Car
(October 2005) nicknamed the machine, "a race car shrouded in civilian clothing." Developed by Audi subsidiary quattro GmbH, the RS 4 illustrates quattro's continued tradition of bridging the gap between motorsport technology and a high standard of practical value for
everyday use. The "RS" abbreviation stands for unmatched performance, technological innovation, and unique driving dynamics.

The RS 4 features a compact, highrevving V8 4.2 FSI? direct injection engine, featuring 420 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque (European performance data), and a 6 speed manual gearbox. The RS 4's eight-cylinder power unit provides maximum thrust and performance, with the FSI? technology reaching a new highpoint. The RS 4 accelerates to
60 mph in 4.8 seconds and reaches 120 mph in an astonishing 16.6 seconds. The RS 4 also features Audi's Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) featuring variable shock absorption, and a new generation of quattro drive with asymmetric/dynamic torque distribution. The combination of quattro drive, DRC, and suspension specifically geared to the RS 4 allows this outstanding high-performance Audi to hold the road safely, even in the absolute limit ranges at top cornering speeds, by diminishing pitch and roll. The RS 4 impressive brake system features cross-drilled and ventilated brake discs, eightpiston front fixed callipers, and single-piston swing callipers on the rear wheels. This enables the Audi RS 4 to offer supreme stopping power and directional stability. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP), with its dry braking function, provides an additional boost to safety.

The RS 4 comes standard with attractive 19" cast aluminum, 7-double spoke, RS 4 specific wheels, as well as Recaro? seats featuring an RS 4 logo and leather piping.

So it will come standard with the following options?:

* Tire mobility system and Tire Pressure Monitoring
* Sport mode button that allows for more aggressive exhaust sound
* Lap timer (integrated)
* Rear side airbags
* Premium Package, including DVD Navigation, Bluetooth phone preparation...
* Heated rear seats (requires Premium Package)

Really? All of these things were either options on our RS 6s here in the States, or were not even available at all for the RS 6.

If this is the case, not bad.

I think Audihead had it exactly right -- the first batch is to spec; only option available is the color. It makes sense, too: at USD$66k base, with that option package, it probably prices to low USD$70s.

Is the tire mobility system a run-flat sort of system, since the RS4 reportedly lacks a spare tire?

Just recieved an email newsletter from AoA. I believe this is the first official AoA publication that contains the upcoming RS4 info.

Here are the two paragraphs that mention the RS4:

Not one, but two exclusive, extremely limited editions are roaring onto the horizon: the 2007 Audi RS 4, and our commemorative edition Audi S4 25quattro. The excitement factor stays at full rev with the Audi Q7, our definitive entry in the premium SUV class. This side of the Atlantic, Audi continues its winning streak with its third "Double Best Pick" safety designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety this year: the Audi A3 joins the Audi A4 and Audi A6 for an unprecedented triple crown. And special offers can help you make your ¡ª or someone else's ¡ª holidays light up with a new Audi lease, or a fabulous vacation from Abercrombie & Kent. We hope you'll celebrate the incredible Audi line-up with us in this latest edition of our newsletter. And as always, thank you for your interest in Audi.
