They think it will be an V10 with 420bhp.

So, lets see how the future will be

the next RS6 will look so good ...didn't think the S6 would be that nice. Though the S8 is even better!

It is nice but I think 420 hp isn't enough.

Why would they detune the v10 to 420 when the V8 makes that much..

Look for the V8 @400hp in the S models and the V10 @ 550 hp in the RS6..

Remember also, the previous S6 had only 40 more horsies than the A6..
Since the A6 line has the V8, it follows that the S version would also be a v8..at an additional 60 hp this seems to fall into line with previous models..

There was no V10 in the A8 line... but the S8 is now a V10...

On germancarfans.com new pics and infos appeared.

From germancarfans.com
Looking mean and moody, the Audi S6 has been spotted in northern Sweden, where it's undergoing cold-climate testing. And it'll be fitted with a version of the 5.5 V10 used in the upcoming Q7 4x4. The S6 won't have the same 550 bhp output as the Q7, though its 440 bhp from a reduced-capacity 5.2 should be more than adequate. A 550 bhp unit will be reserved for a lighter-weight, even quicker full-on RS6, due in another year's time. In the meantime, the low-riding S6, with its pair of double exhausts, deeper front grille and airdam and huge 19-inch alloy wheels, is expected to make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in spring 2006. It should look pretty much like the car pictured here, though a different wheel design and unpainted aluminium door mirrors may well feature on the production model.

yes but the 550hp will be high specific output n/a.. which usually results in a very peaky engine and low torque... not good for a heavy car like an RS6 or Q7... Im hoping the RS6 engine will be 5.2 Biturbo for the torque to get the heavy beast out of corners and digs....

...it will be. But no manual Transmission because of the massive torque, round about 750NM/553 lbf ft. :0:

Why no manual? The carrera GT also has a manual.. That has 612BHP and 590 Nm. So maybe with 750Nm it would have a slightly more heavy clutch :D hehehe

I also like what I see - besides the front. It's too tame :D

No foglights?

Could it be, that the fenders are wider than on an "ordinary" A6?

Why no manual?

At the moment it looks like the first choice will be the 6 speed Automatic Transmission also used in the A8 D3. This Transmission is able to handle up to 750NM/553 lbf ft. of Torque. There is a chance of getting a 7 Speed DSG as a Option.

the RS6 is gonna be a high performens car.. I dont think it would be a A8 automatic transmission.. I think it would be a DSG transmission as a option.. And a manual transmission :D

I got no hope for the manual Transmission set up, DSG posibly if not too cost expensive as a Option. Standard 6 Speed Automatic Transmission with enhanced ECU Timings etc.
