1 year ago Donkervoort took the porsche carrera GT record time at the ring with a time of 7,18.01 (more than 14 sec faster)
But porsche coudn't stand that the weed smoking dutchies had the record on there german circuit :p so they took the FIA GT prepared Porsche 996 GT2R and finished in a time of 7,15,63, So now the race between the dutch and germans was on :D
6th of november 2005,
Donkervoort brought there D8 to the ring in the hands of Michael Düchting. On That day there were a lot of crashes on the ring so they had to wait till the end of the day. But after a long time waiting the record atempt was on! But still the conditions weren't perfect.. The sun was comming down and there were some wet spots on the track. And everyone who raced at the ring knows that november isn't the best time for a record attempt :p but still the race was on!
Becaus of this the max speed this run was only 259 km/h.. But still with all the drawbacks the dutchies took the record time with 7,14.89!
The car used for this record time was almost the same as the last one. Only a couple tweaks.. I don't know what kind of tweaks, but I gues some better airodinamics for some more downforce and maybe some extra horsepower.
This car was completly legal for the german roads (that are the rules for the record attempt) So it took the record time with normal street tires.
And still with the minor drawbacks they almost got 1 second of the time. I think with normal conditions they could get another 2 seconds of the time :D
Here are some pictures of the fastest legal (DUTCH!) road car of the nürburg ring!

(there some differents on the front and back wing and on the front weels, also the nose has a little bit different shape)
