Does any one know how the EVO people own their cars?
Are some just filthy rich and like to write or does the UK have any special rules for owning cars as a journalist?

i'm not to sure if the members of the automotive press in the
u.k. own their cars outright or if they have a lease arrangement
like some u.s. magazines have with the manufactures.

however harry metcalf is the one who 'owns' both the RS6
avant and the SL55. if he really does own both vehicles than
he certainly is not poor :D

(some jounalists must have pretty high salaries!)

In the real world, cars are bought with the small change left over from paying for one's yacht! Many of the Evo cars are not expensive and those that are may be the result of differing sets of priorities.
That said, Metcalfe is independently funded. Evo started as his 'indulgence'. He also owns a pleasant house in Italy, so his net worth is something upon which you may choose to speculate. Given the fawning nature of many of the other writers' contributions, I doubt that they even approach well paid. Certainly the photographs suggest solid working class chaps, rather than the affluently educated

Well, rich or poor, I certainly don't mind people buying, driving and racing their cars and then writing about them.
