I'm not sure about all these new gadgets and gizzmos coming out on these new cars, don't get me wrong as I love technology and gadgets but only ones that I want.

I like the RS6 the way it is. It would be nice to have an additional softer ride option for long distance cruising (like the new "S" class)
I installed a Phatbox which I love - my choice
Portable Navman GPS (for travelling + diff. cars) - my choice)
If I want to do extra stuff I will - my choice.
To me aftermarket is half the fun.

Wonder what Audi will do?

Do you want /need all this stuff. I've included an example from a BMW forum which would be additional to all the existing (new M5) gizzmos and gadgets.

Example from BMW forum:

Now that the 3 series is out with the new DSC +system and we know it’s coming on the 06 5 series including M5… the concerns have been rising after reading multiple reviews and driving the new 3. Please note: These features cannot be turned off!!!!!
These features are coming in cars starting September, so none of the current m5s have them..

1) The most scary – Brake fade compensation… it supposed to help when the brakes are overheated.. Instead it retards the engine power and kills the car… no more track for the M!

See the report from WGI with the new 330…
If M5 has that feature – it will need to be defeated ASAP

2) Soft stop – instead of softly releasing the brake – it fights you and jerks the car forward. Reports are it is similar to auto park (in feel – not in execution) but it cannot be turned off.
See link:

3) Hill assist – applies brakes on the hill – but makes it impossible to park the car on the steep hill it holds it for too long and one have to put in too much gas to move – next thing it jerks the car backwards with too higher velocity

All of the above have been confirmed by driving 325 and 330 manuals

Please BMW don’t put this crap in the M5 it is already full of gizmos.
The work should be cut out for tuners… there must be a fuse I can pop to disable this crap (similar to active steering fuse in 545)

vs2,

I think you answered your own question. Look at what you bought/would like for your RS 6.

1: Air suspension (ala A8) for "cruise" mode
2: Phatbox
3:Portable Navman GPS

Keep in mind this is on TOP of what a loaded RS 6 already comes with, and the RS 6 comes with a fair amount.

The manufactures see what customers want/ get for their cars and like all businesses WANT to give their customers these things INSTEAD of their customers getting them from OTHER businesses. A PERFECT example is the Cayenne! "Why let all Porsche people go buy Mercedes SUVs when WE can sell them one!"

I agree, that it should be our option, and would like to see just that: OPTIONS available but not AUTOMATICALLY given to us the consumer.
