Already...I hope to see the B7 RS4 Avant before this new B8 A4 Avant. :hahahehe:

You will see the B7 RS4 before the B8 A4 but the gap will be not much more than a year between them. The B8 chassis will be superb; a real step-up from the B6/ B7 in terms of ride and handling thanks to much better weight balance and steering.

New front wheel drive system for non-Quattro models is extremely interesting. The gearbox is behind the engine with the drive shaft mounted in parallel going forward to the front wheels either through the sump or just to the right of the engine. This should make it the best hanlding front wheel drive car available; but whether it is better than BMW/ Mercedes/ Lexus rear wheel drive configurations is likely to be hotly debated.

As we are talking about the Avant, a small correction (my assumption - no inside knowledge here):

introduction:

- B7 RS4 Avant either Sep.2005 IAA Frankfurt or Beginning 2006
- B8 A4 Sedan Sep.2007 Frankfurt
- B8 A4 Avant Sep.2008 Paris

My point - there will be more than 2 years between B7 RS4 Avant and B8 A4 Avant

- B7 RS4 Avant: Launched Frankfurt 2005 but only arrives in showrooms from June 2006
- B8 A4 Coupe: Launched Paris 2006 or Geneva 2007 arrives in showrooms September 2007 (May be called A5 and styling will be based on Nuvolari show car)
- B8 A4 Saloon: Launched Geneva 2007 or Frankfurt 2007 arrives in showrooms November 2007
- B8 A4 Avant: Launched Frankfurt 2007 or Geneva 2008 arrives in showrooms November 2008

I would have preferred to see a 4 year gap between B7 RS4 Avant and B8 A4 Avant.

But here's the news Audi doesn't want you to know: B8 A4 coupe may well have RS4's V-8 engine at launch. If it doesn't, it will almost certainly have a new V8 FSI engine with more than 380 bhp. Whatever engine it gets, it will be a fantastic machine. Unfortunately, the downside is that it'll make new RS4 redundant pretty quickly.

if the B8 coupe has the RS4's engine or similar it would have to be the S version of the B8 coupe. that would make the B7 S4 redundant and it would still be on sale...and wouldn't make sense. i think they'd introduce the non-s version of the B8 coupe and then launch the S version when the B8 sedan (and it's S version are launched a few months later).

ps- any new news on the LMQ?????
