I thought the front fenders and hood were aluminum, and the rest steal???
My 4.2 had aluminum front fenders only, so I thought!?
Nene posted on Audizine that the whole car is aluminum?
Is this true??

Hood and front fenders are aluminum. The rest is steel. You can hear/feel the difference by tapping on the fenders; sound is different than front doors. I found out for sure when body shop considered repainting a fender but it turned out to be unneeded. They didn't think fenders were aluminum but eventually confirmed that they are.
The A8 is the all-aluminum Audi.

I had read on one of the Evo European magazines that the whole car was aluminum. I have not checked it myself, only from what I read.

incorrect, only front fenders and hood are....sorry Nene, the mag was wrong.

Hood and fenders are Al. Just put a magnet on the sheet metal, it won't stick. The only all aluminum Audi is the A8....Jaguar's XJ and some Aston Martins are also aluminum.

How come you missed the 360M, the 430M and the quattroporte?
the A2 will never pass US crash tests, the engine is designed to slide under the passenger compartment in an accident. That fact, together with overlooking the need to set up a marketing campaign for the car cost the boss of Audi his job.

Right, the 360M (duh), 430, Acura NSX, and others are also made with Al chassis. Boy, the list sure is growing. :idea:

If the RS6 was all-aluminum it wouldn't be 4200lbs. It would also probably spank a new V10 M5 on the straight and on curves if it was all aluminum....
