Well I didn't already see a follow up thread to the Julian Event so I'll start one.

Hy Octane:cheers:

Mr. Kram:cheers:

Everyone else that attended:cheers:

It was absolutely PERFECT weather for Bi Turbo motors (@60-65) during the drive up to Julian. Nene, your East Coast RS 6 get together is safe (for now) as only 3 RS 6s showed up. However it is conservative to say we had at least 80 Audis there (with a C4S and a few VWs to boot), with many S4s and a bunch of TTs.

I'll make sure to send Erik some pics to post to this thread (if I post them, I'll have to shrink them so much, they'll look like garbage). The RS 6 members were able to meet up and say hello (all of us brought along kids and spouses so it was nice meeting everyone), but they had us in seperate run groups (80 cars are a little much for one run group!).

At the first stop, Mr Kram got into my run group but was stuck behind the Porche (ironically, HE was one of the slower guys, bright yellow Porsche, public streets= Tickets).

When we stopped at Harrahs, Hy Octane was able to join up with my run group (couldn't find Mr Kram, he was down stairs) which was lead by Robert with his K04'd A6 2.7TT. Some of the run group leaders weren't the quickest, but I have to say Robert did an incredible job making the drive the most exciting he could (THAT'S the way you lead a run group!) keeping an almost track pace most of the time and then slowing it down periodically to allow the slower guys in the back to catch back up (if you frequent these boards Robert, job very well done).

The drive was great with one incident however. One of the S4s (blue) on the Mesa Grande was a little too spirited and unfortunately roasted his brakes. He had a brake failure on one of the turns and went on an "agricutural excursion". His car was not too badly damaged (I was told) and luckily he was completely uninjured (although very upset). His car had to be towed however so hopefully he gets it repaired quickly. These drives are what you make of them, they're as fast as you want (stay towards the FRONT) or as gingerly as you like (stay towards the BACK). They are still PUBLIC roads we must remember so we need to remember that there's other non enthusiast guys and gals on the road as well. We also were fortunate enough NOT to get tagged by the fuzz (Hy Octane KNOWS what I'm talking about!:D ).

The end to our journey took us to a great all you can eat pizza buffet in the town of Julian with homemade drinks and desserts as well. An auction followed to bring things to an end. It was really nice seeing familiar faces and just as nice to meet all the new Audi enthusiasts for the first time. To next year!

Benman just sent me these pictures from the event. Thanks!
They're a bit big, but hang in there...

There's a bunch of cool cars in there! About 3% of all of the available american RS6s showed up :D

Ben,

Glad to meet you and the rest of the Audi gang. It was a great time. I wish I could have stayed till the end, but the boy was getting restless. Hopefully we'll make the next run. :0:

It was nice meeting up. Yep, kids will do that:D Those things aren't nearly as exciting for them as the Wiggles:hihi:

I doubt I'll be able to join the Winery one coming up. But I'll catch the next one.

Even if not that many RS6 cars showed up, it still looks like a great Audi turnout. Wish I was on the West Coast sometimes.

Nope. Your yearly stickers are on the rear license plate and the registration is in your glove box or wherever you keep it.. Isnt that nice? Dont have anything mucking up your front windshield..
