Hi,
with my RS4 prod. nr. was the last four digits in the so called "Fahrgestellnummer" starting with WUAZZZ........ 5860

I am not sure if this fits on the RS6 as well... Last four digits of my RS6 are ....1594, but as it was produced late in 2004 it will probably not be the nr. 1594 out of the built 8000 models...

VINs are assigned when the car is scheduled for production. They are used to order sub assemblies, the wiring harness for example. So they are 'known' months ahead of completion.

it begins W for Germany, then

AU for Audi AG or
UA for quattro GmbH

the last 6 digits are the vehicle's production number.

There are lots of sites which decode the VIN for you, so I won't repeat what has already been explained on numerous occasions.

From time to time these numbers are assigned in 'batches' which causes apparent inconsistencies in first registration and manufacturing dates.
