I was reading a car magazine last month, and I found an add for a company that sells turn signal bulbs that are silver in color, but blink amber/orange. So I decided to buy a set and give it a try. I have to say that I'm pretty happy about the setup. I don't have pix of it yet on my car, but here is full info on the bulbs if you need to get them.

Bimmian Solaris Turn Signals (http://www.bimmian.info/SOL/60)

I can't post an image off of their site on here due to copyright issues. We all know we don't want to get into any sort of trouble. But once I take a pix of it on the beast, I'll surely post it here. There are cool pix on the site though, even though it's on a BMW.

Please keep in mind that if you have the USA housings the bulbs will fit without any modification.
If you have Euro rear housings, you will need to dremmel out one of the nipples in the bulb, such that it will enter the socket without any issues. This takes 5 seconds if you have the tool.
If you have Euro front housings, you will need to buy 2 sets. Each set has bulbs for front, rear and sides. But the front bulbs are for USA housings, which means the bulb base is flat. Euro housings have round socket, thus need round base bulb. Thus you will need to buy an extra set unfortunately, and use dremmel tool to nuke the extra nipple in the base.
Hope it all makes sense.

Would you happen to know the bulb number for the front turn signals? Also, do you just remove the 2 torx bolts at the top of the headlight housing to get at the bulb sockets?

Thanks in advance, I did this on a BMW and it looked great.

Click here for bulb number scheme (USA) (http://www.rs6.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4603)

To do the bulbs you don't have to remove screws, at least in the rear. Just unclip the plastic cover that is held in place at the rear tail housings.

For the front, that is a more involved matter. Indeed there are 2 visible screws to remove as well as an under the housing one that is harder to get to. You need to move the housing a bit to get access to the front signal bulbs.

Hope this helps.

nene,

Thank you for the detailed answer. Your write ups were great. That's a lot of effort to change a turn signal bulb, now I know why the owner's manual said see the dealer.

But I'm glad I asked, because its scared me off from changing the bulbs out until I've had the car for more than a few weeks.

Regards,
Bill
