One of the reasons I prefer Avants is because I need a roof rack for my bikes. I hate the kind of racks that squeeze into the door jam. Since Avants have rails, you can attach a roof system in a much more elegant way (without damaging the car!).
I have seen some systems, on a Porsche Turbo actually, that had a recessed channel that allowed a rack to attach without resorting to the door-pinch method. Since it doesn't look like the RS4 avant is coming to the US, does anyone know if the RS4, or S4 for that matter, have such a channel for a rack can attach?
