If Audi follows its marketing logic it is likely to be the case.

This is also what an Audi official driver/tester told me when I ask him for infos on the new RS4 last August during an Audi Driving Experience.

He told me an RS4+ may be planned with racing characteristics and lighter weight, but also that the price would be very high as well.

Is it worth waiting for this possible limited edition

I don't think so that car is all up in the air, and it is not certain if it will come in production any time soon.

An RS4+ would probably be released when the B7 production ends, 2-3 years from now.

Well now that the M3 will be out soon, it will compete with the RS4, and once the M3 CSL comes out.... Audi will have no choice but to release an RS4+. Audi should have at least gave the S4 an updated version of the S8 engine, that way it would be able to compete with the new M3 and the RS4 would compete with the CSL.
