Uhu, wrong.

RUF is always in. I've heard worrying things about 9ff and wouldn't go near them with my money.

Quick question.. may be a dumb one..

I'm doing a research project for my statistics class on naturally aspirated specific output (which make makes the best one most efficiant etc..). My question is, Is RUF considered a manufacturer or a Tuner?? I have heard people argue that they are a manufacturer and I have heard people argue that they are a tuner? I cant make up my mind.. please help..:vhmmm:

RUF is registered as a manufacturer.

yes yes... they're a manufacturers... but still, i think of them as tuners, as they actually are... ok, they replace alot of parts on the car, its still a Porsche 911 when they start... :eye:

Well...consider the R Turbo. They remake most of the body (air intake), and don't even use the chassis of the turbo. Not to mention the engine...
And they buy the chassis seperate. They don't just buy a 911 and tune it, they bloody build it!

yes yes... its all good and stuff, but i still see them as a semi-manufacturer... but that's just me... :D

Semi-manufacturer is not the same as tuner..
I definitely agree with Erik, RUF is something different...not to be compared with average tuners like TechArt, 9ff, Cartronic, Gemballa, Roock, RS Tuning, TTP, FVD, Cargraphic....and even Manthey Motors...
The RUF "YellowBird" CTR is living proof of that, don't you think..?
..even today, 15 years later, a car that does 0-60 in less than 3 seconds is quite hard to find..
Btw, did you know that the CTR reached 342 kph at the Nardo track in Italy in 1988..?

Erik is indeed correct, the German standards see RUF as a manufacturer in it's own right. Plus there's the warranty and many years experience by the Ruf crew and Alois.

September 05 is a little too premature for the Turbo 997.... I hope..Five weeks and counting for delivery of the Turbo S. :D

What I want to ask is whether it is worth waiting for 997 turbo or don't wait and buy 996 turbo, because there is a high number of them 2nd hand with low KM?
Are there any pics of how 997 is going to look like?
I there any difference between euro and US porsche turbo?

Logically, it'll be best to buy a 996 turbo when the 997 turbo appears on the scene, due to maximum depreciation on the 996, with owners trading to the 997 and the general lack of demand for the 996 will push prices even lower. Doesn't help that Porsche has over produced the 996 Turbo.

Apart from the increased ride height between the two, the standard spec list and the reflectors, I can't see 'too much' being dramatically different between the two specs.
