that's a great question, I would also like to know that...
More importantly even if it fits in the spot will the wiring be easy or a pain.

I'm sure it will work on the RS6. However, I've not tried it myself.
Only the mechanics and a couple of body parts are different. Electronics wise, with concerns to radio and Nav I have not found that both vehicles would be different.
