How did they get the weight down to 1719 kg (3,782 lbs)? With 580 hp, that's a dramatically different power to weight ratio from our stock cars ...

"The MTM car was stripped of its rear seat, air-con, stereo and soundproofing and given a full roll cage along with lightweight carpet and racing seats. It also lost its automatic gearbox in favour of an uprated six-speed manual from the RS4.
With MTM‘s full-house engine conversion, the 350 kg lighter
RS6 Club Sport was blasted around the track by 540 PS and a
whopping 810 Nm of torque. Piloted by last year‘s MTM classwinning
driver Florian Gruber, who drives in the German
SEAT Cupra Cup, it blitzed the opposition to take first in class
with a stunning 1 minute 12.453 sec lap at an average speed
of 128.441 kph."

"With the RS6 Clubsport MTM celebrate the first place last weekend at Tuner-GP at the Hockenheimring. The time of 1:12.453 would be in the GT-class, at the Porsche cars, the 4th place. The performance was increased by the turbokit to 570hp, the vehicle weight could be reduced by modifications over up to 300Kg, without comfort suffers. The change from automatic transmission to manual gearbox brings the driving fun on highest level. In the future will be take place some modifications on the axles as well on the aerodynamic. There are tests planed at Nardo. The car will be for a test at the magazine "Sport Auto" in a short time. A small limited series of 10-20 cars is planned. At this we want to congratulate our driver Gruber Florian, he did a perfect job. He had on Friday only 30 minutes time and on Saturday even only two rounds to to test. Many thanks for their help are to the companies Pirelli and KW automotives GmbH."

1:12.453 that's Lamborghini Gallardo time, in an Avant... :MTM:

This car is as fast on 200km/h as my Polo is on 80km/h :D

how can someone drive that fast from 0-200km/h? Doesn`t he have to shift more than once?! I`d like to take a seat when a testdriver is doing this!

What is really really impressive with the RS6 MTM Clubsport is the stiffness of the chassis and how very good is the handling. This is by far the best car I drove in my life.

But of course the engine WITH manual gearbox is absolutely amazing. It is showing if it was necessary the huge mistake Audi made by not producing such car.....

Cheers from Paris,

The MTM RS6 is one fast Avant... However, I must confess I don't see the point... Why would someone pay that much money for an Avant like that... It's a track car for the most part... Does it even have any airbags?

The M5 on the other hand is a road car. I really don't think one could compare both... Dunno, just a thought...

I think the e60 m5 does pretty well from stock really. I wouldnt be surprised if some loon is allready toying with the idea of some kind of forced induction for that V10, as you surely cant libertae that much power from it soley through n/a tuning.

If the rumours are true the next rs6 will have it licked though, but i do hope the next rs6 is lighter and more nible, not just more powefull.

They sold the RS6 Clubsport of MTM for 99500 Euro. It was the demo car, they used for the tuner grand prix.

I did not really consider to buy it, because it has no airbags and AC any more.

Concerning the comparison of M5 (even E60) and RS6, i would say, compare it all over the year. Under rainy, wet and snowy conditions, on bad and good roads. And also, always think about the gact, that the V10 is still an engine, which is not stabile, like the 5.0L V8 was a long time.

Even when the RS6 has not that much HP, it´s the more solid engine, i think.

And i know what i´m talking about, i have driven all of these car´s for many miles.

Cheers

If I know well, even the stock RS6 is faster a little bit than E60 M5 isn't it?If I remember well...:0-100: M5:4,7sec(with launch controll)and RS6 also 4,7 without LC.Without Launch Controll BMW is slower...I found in a car magazine that it needs 5,0sec to reach 100kmh without Launch Control.:revs:

I started to thinking about this question and I absolutely don't know which car is faster:rolleyes: BMW E60 M5 or a stock RS6 because I found very different datas about them.I found in one place that RS6 needs 4,6 sec to reach 100 kmh ,on the other site I found 4,9sec ,about M5:5,0 on a site,4,7 or 4,5 on an other.Does everybody knows the real times??? Or are they so small numbers that nobody knows exactly which is faster?

The real times vary...a LOT. But for the most part, the ONLY chance a RS 6 has against the brand new M5, is off the line with the quattro hook up. Once the M5 catches it, it's over. The M5 is definately faster. A very reputable website is www.track-challenge.com .

You can do a comparo there.

But I find it a bit strange because the official time of M5 to 0-100 kmh is 4,7sec (I read it on the official BMW website).
Maybe it could be true if they tested the two cars.

BMW will have the m6 csl 550hp to play with.

Oh and bmw like many others underrate there 0-100 times.

to the first poster its not fair to compair an all out preped modded car to a bone stock m5.

just wait till hartge, dinan, supersprint do up there m5s and see what they do on the track.

supersprint has an exhuast upgrade that gets the car to 547hp now.

If there is one brand that overrates there times it is BMW. Ok the M5 and M6 are not overrated but when you look at the other ones like the 3-series, 5-series and certainly the 1.
There are even articles about BMW putting their acceleration times ahead and the question what they are willing to reach with that.

but that is very off-topic :p

The M6 is already a CSL model, with plastic windscreens etc. and has "only" 507 hp and the official time 0-100 (with launch controll and P500 S6 settings )is 4,6 sec ,previous RS6 plus used to have the same 4,6 sec but it's slower on 0-200(17,3 against BMW's 13,9)<--these are official times.
I know BMW M's are great cars especially new M5 and M6(I like them) but they don't have as fast tuned version as MTM Clubsports:they are (could be) as fast as Lambo Murciélago.
I mean BMW's usually don't have as fast tuned versions as AUDIs(generally),I look forward to see new RS6 and tuned M5.:race:

I think at the moment the new M5 is the best made (sports-)sedan. The E55 is also not bad, but not as sporty as the rs6 and the m5, but faster on the straight as the rs6.

At the moment my rating (total package):

1. M5
2. RS6
3. E55 AMG

Slight change in my opinion:
Performance/handling:
1.M5
2.E55
3.RS6
Sound:
1.RS6
2.E55
3.M5

Styling in/out:
1.E55/RS6 - tie
10.M5 (yes,#10 because it's so ugly)

In the end, styling for me is the least important factor,so I'll go for the performance....

Im not sure on what other bmws are rated at but i was talking about the m models.

The m3 has done 0-60 in 4.6 and some even lower than that.

the csl has the same 0-60 time as the regular m on paper but thats not the case in real life.

there is going to be an m6 csl with more power.

also why are you guys giving the m5s sound bad ratings. That thing sounds like an f1 car flying down the track and thats from watching it on a computer. It should sound alot better in real life id think.

Then we should break up the sound classification into 2 categories:
At idle (when M5 sounds like a diesel)
At full song (when M5 sounds like F1 car)

I have been sitting in the M6 and the sound of the V10 is amazing, but it could be little bit more agressive. But of course you can put somekind exhaust mode on the car and I believe after that it will be something very grazy.
