I guess this means that the S6 will be a N/A V10 with circa 450hp?

end of 2006 seems very soon though. This means that right after RS4 production finishes. Quattro GMBH wont produce 2 RS models at once.

That's a photoshop. It will be nice if the engine size is accurate though. I think 2006 is too soon.

You can tell it's photoshop by center grill and lower grills are wider mesh, which is not correct.

That's what Audi needs to do, but as the others have said I don't think that platform is going to be seen. I hear Audi can't even shoehorn the Lambo V10 into the new A6 layout so I doubt a V10 Bi-Turbo is going to get in there.

Jeez, I wish Audi is going in this aggressive design/engine layout, what a machine!!!!

I don't necessarily care so much about the appearance of the new model, but would rather that Audi spend more time on the FUNCTION of the car.

Make sure it CAN be driven at 200 mph, can handle the breaking heat needed, can handle 50% more torque than the engine is rated, THEN Put a limitter on it.

The current RS6 has too many weak parts.

At least when the car is really pushed to the limits...breaks fail, transmissions fail, etc.

Audi has been working on a brand new 5.2 litre V-10 that will definitely fit in A6 chassis complete with bi-turbos. The prototype engine develops at least 520 bhp. I've heard talk of 600 bhp! And they're also working on a DSG gearbox for high-powered engines.

Good as it will be, next RS6 won't be Audi's high performance flagship. The Le Mans show car is slated for production as the RS9 and will also get 5.2 litre V-10 with bi-turbos.

How sure is it that we will see the DSG box in the new RS6 ??

I have heard that they will use a improved version in the new Bugatti,,,:applause:

At the most 20% sure that we will see a DSG gearbox in the RS6.
And 80% sure we will see a normal automatic 7 speed tiptronic gearbox in the RS6.
And if we lucky there will be a 6 speed manuel gearbox availeble in the RS6.
Longitudinal DSG gearbox is at the moment pure speculation by the press.

I think that next RS6 will rock and can't wait to get one.I also heard that it will be equipped with not-lambo but new V10 TT powerplant and 7spd DSG.

I know for sure we will see a DSG box in Audis that can handle big horsepower. Question is when it will arrive.

Given that new M5 has SMG III, improved 7-speed auto in RS6 may not be enough to distance it from BMW. DSG is helping to sell quite a few Audis (and VWs) so marketing guys definitely want to extend its applications.

I totally agree.. Audi wont have the car ready for next year, more like 2007 or 2008. And 600 bhp is a lot of ponies for an avant/sedan, I think its more like 520 ^^
