View Full Version : The upcoming Audi Q7

Sometime during 2005 Audi is expected to release their own SUV named Audi Q7.
The Q7 will probably be released in September 2005 at the Frankfurt motor show and will be followed by a smaller Audi Q5 (based on the A4).

The Audi Q7 will be based on a modification Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg- there could be worse parents in the SUV world.

The Volvo XC90 can expect to get some competition in flexibility and space (the Q7 is 20 cm longer than the Touareg) and the BMW X5 and Cayenne some competition in terms of performance.

Engine-wise we can expect 4.2-liter 350 hp V8, 3.2-liter 240 hp V6 and possibly a 235 hp 3.0 litre turbodiesel.
Hopefully there will also be a high performance model named QS 7. As you may remember the Pikes Peak show car featured a 500 hp FSI direct-injection petrol engine... :0:

I hope not. Look at Mercedes with the AMG brand. For crying out loud they even have the G wagon AMG:rolleyes: All that does is cheapen the effect. BMW with only the M3 & M5 (soon to be M6) is much smarter and keeps it a much rarer thing.

"Our spies have also hinted that a high-performance model could appear later. Badged S7, it will use a detuned version of the 5.0-litre V10 engine fitted to the Lamborghini Gallardo."

"A long waiting list is anticipated, with Audi already reporting more than 1,000 enquiries from potential customers. The order books will be opened in the autumn, but buyers should register their interest with dealers now to ensure a place near the head of the Q..."

"Although the Q7 is unlikely to be marketed for its off-road ability, Audi will ensure the newcomer is more than competent in the mucky stuff. It has a heritage of quattro four-wheel-drive technology to live up to, so expect a similar level of mud-plugging ability to the Range Rover Sport, with adjustable air-suspension and a variety of traction control settings as standard."

If there will be a high performance Audi Q7 it will be named SQ7 and will get a 450bhp 6.0-liter W12 or a 420bhp 4.2-liter V8 FSI engine.
But absolutely "no" V10 i can asure you.

Bar high for Q7

Next year, Audi will launch the Q7 seven-seat SUV. A smaller SUV based on the A4 will follow in about three years.

De Nysschen thinks Audi can sell as many as 50,000 Q7s annually. But sales in 2006 will likely be between 15,000 and 20,000 units, he said.

Last year wasn't a good year for Audi or its dealers. Aside from its aging lineup, Audi was winding down production of the old generation of key vehicles it is updating.

De Nysschen said Audi dealers have to believe the brand has a lucrative future in order to invest in new or upgraded stores.

"We have to create an environment for them in which they have a high degree of confidence and can actually turn a profit," he said. "That is another reason why I want to focus on improving the quality of the business rather than having a volume orientation."

I think we don't need an SQ7 or QS7 or something like that because if there will be to much S and RS modells ,the RS4 and RS6 will be less unique, although Q7 needs a high performance engine for example the engine of the Concept Pikes Peak would be great. What do you think?:0:

I agree with that Pikes Peak Concept engine or some other more powerful than 4.2 powerplant would be great, but would not Audi have to automaticaly give it S letter?
