Not so sure what you are worried about.

There are lots of E55 AMG for sale as well. (http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/results.jtmpl?model=E55&start_year=2003&end_year=2006&min_price=&max_price=&distance=25&certified=n&advanced=y&advcd_on=n&make=MB&address=06810&search_type=used&x=36&y=11)

The Autotrader list says nine RS6s but the last is actually an RS4, so the number really is eight nationwide. That seems pretty small to me. Eight cars out of 1200 brought to the US = .0066, or about two-thirds of one percent. Hardly a number to be concerned about -- unless you're a buyer, in which case there isn't much to choose from!

When I modified the E55 search to make it comparable -- limit it to 2003 models, with no restriction on distance (to make it nationwide also) -- 45 turned up. I don't know how that works out percentage-wise because I don't know how many 2003 E55s were sold in the US, but it's 5.6 times the number of RS6s shown in these AutoTrader listings.

Add in 2004 E55s and the number for sale jumps to 92, or 11.5 times more than the number of RS6s available.

At any point in time there will be some number of RS6 cars for sale. Not all people that have RS6 cars actually purchased them. Some might have even simply leased the vehicle. As such, one can expect that within the first 2-3 year period, some of the leased vehicles will be showing up in the market because the lease period has ended.

If there were upwards of 50 RS6 cars available for sale, I'd probably think of it as a big deal. However, I can only spend time concerning myself with my vehicle, but only loosely monitoring the market. This only because I have no intentions on selling it, thus no reason to really keep a close watch.

I really like this vehicle. To be truthful, I could care less if every RS6 that arrived in the USA was up for sale at the same time. I'm keeping mine, so it's no burden on me what the market looks like.

Like Choppo I am looking for a RS6 avant to buy, assuming I can solve the fitting of a tow bar. There may be a lot for sale in the USA but here in the UK continual trawling for the past two months of autotrader and audiuk web sites does not reveal a huge choice.

A question. I spoke to an RS6 owner last night who told me that his car was due to go in for a main dealer service (at about 40,000 miles) and that it would need a cam belt change and the belt cost alone was about £500. With fitting and pads etc the bill would be about £1700. Is this correct or is he being wound up (or am I)?
