In 1994 I stood on the roof of World Trade Center. Had a look at those pics a couple of months ago and it felt very strange - to say the least.
A couple of years back I spent the summer in Thailand, around Phuket, Phi Phi islands, Railey Beach and also stayed in the wonderful region of Khao Lak in this heaven "Hotell Khao Lak Laguna."
Apparently everything up to the reception is gone. I stayed in the bungalow closest to the beach.
My thoughts goes to all the people who didn't make it, those who lost their loved ones and the locals who now have to fight to build eveything from start.
Khao Lak is probably one of the locations in Thailand that was most damaged. 1500 people from Sweden are still unaccounted for, hopefully many of them are still alive but just wasn't able to reach relatives to say they're ok.
The first planes carrying touritst back to Sweden are starting to arrive. Today a plane landed in Stockholm with children without their parents. Sorry if I seem concentrated on swedes, but it's related to the news I read. This is of course a world wide disaster and the UN think around 70.000 people may have died.
I'm not very good at doing charity but today I transferred some money to the swedish "Radio Help."
Some pics I found of the hotel before the disaster.
