A bit disappointing, I was expecting a time under 8 mins on the Nürburgring. And I think the 645i has a very similar time on the Hockenheim circuit. Anyway, the acceleration isn't bad. :D

SportAuto:

Nordschleife: 8.13min
Hockenheim: 1.16,5min
0-100km/h: 4.5s
0-200km/h: 13.8s

On the track: EDC Sport is slower than Comfort.
Suspension is too comfortable.

Excellent result: 58 out of 80 points new method with wet handling.

Last sentence: "With the announcment, the M5 would combine the every day requirements with racing demands, the M-GmbH have claimed a bit too much."

WOW! Looks like they almost tried to copy Mercedes, straight-forward rocket. (not saying the M5 is slow, but I and many others expected much more)

What does it really matter - it is horses for courses. And heavy horses simply cannot be as agile & last as long. That is what put me off the RS6, but I doubt the RS4 will be significantly better. RS4 light would be super.

A heavy car at the 'Ring needs Fangio, and fortunately there are plenty of wannabe's including you 8:29 - thanks for entertaining us:thumb:

Please explain to me what you mean whit Wannabes?

And yes it does matter SL55 get around in 8:12 whit 1968kg!! and 476hp/700Nm atomatic and a old car! Sure its a 2 door(well to day I might call it a sportscar)

And BMW is the one to say their sporty, sure its a 4 door sedan but anyway a brand new in market 2005 sedan. And fore me this is intressting.

Im moore pleased if M5 make 8:07 as I think BMW have mentioned. And then every thing is as it should be.:D

I was complimenting you - that although you are driving such a big car ( & inadequate brakes), you return such good times round the 'Ring.

If I am not mistaken, Fangio drove big American cars at the 'Ring.

I think this wet handeling is an additional test they do, and has nothing to do if track is wet or not.

But must say the 8:13 time smell some wet or damp conditions or Im I just reaching out fore something here.:(

As you say it rains alot in holland now. Dont know what date the test was done, but november is not a warm and sunny seasson.

Following is the SL55 testing data and date=

Testing Date 4/2002
Temperature (Air) 7 Degree Celsius
Temperature (Asphalt) 9 Degree Celsius
Air Pressure 1022 mbar

What car did Tim Schrick drive 8,07 around the ring?

I Quote=

Dr, Nagano the guy at track-challenge whit this.
The BMWS of chassis engineers drove with the M5 around 8.08.

And I read it as well.

This is what I was geting at when talking about M3 CSL loaded which Richard Göransson and Horst is driving. Up to date Race drivers drive faster around the ring often.

E39 M5 did in test 1999 go around in 8:28 full lap sport auto. So I guess E6o M5 will also go under sport autos 8:13 whit as I said before the right driver.

But even if cars tested in sport auto can go around faster whit other driver. Its anyway interesting to have sport auto times as a refrense cuse its many cars tested and whit the same driver thats a good point..

Ps, when we was down at the ring april 2004 we stayed to sleep in Sabines house for a few days. And she is a relly nice person I must say, fast as well:D Ds
