"In other news, the much-touted Lamborghini Gallardo in use by the Italian Policia is out of action. Details are sketchy, but apparently, the lug nuts on a rear wheel went "missing" while the car was getting gas at a service station. The highway patrol car became even more damaged during the recovery procedure."

A big :nono: don't steal the wheel nuts from the Police.

I wouldn't steal the lug nuts from anyone...

I recon the Police did a cock-up on the maintenence of the vehicle. Even more moronic is the idea that they can pull the Gallardo onto a flat bed truck. ah wells.

....hit happens. ;)

The real story is what was the driver doing whilst some public minded citizen was removing the lug nuts.
Sadly they chose this route rather than attaching a heavy chain to the rear suspension so the prat driving it pulled the arse end out of the car.
This is a wonderful example of schadenfreude. Almost by definition, whoever gets to drive this particular car is bent or a brown nose or both. Police forces around the world learned years ago to drive ordinary looking cars, when did you last see a police Porsche, for example. BMW, MB and Audi disguise their high performance police cars as more ordinary models and the top end limousines are not marked in any distinguishing way. I wish I'd been having an espresso when they car pulled away, that would have been a good laugh.
You might think I'm being a bit harsh here, but I spent some time chatting to a couple of Italian Autostrada cops whilst having a break and they were admiring the car I brought in, you should have heard what they had to say about this 'stunt car', and the people behind it.
