Nice article... I'd take the E55. With driving in normal life I think you are more with torquey low speed grunt than high end brutal power... not that the M5 won't move at low "street" rpm:D, but you don't go for the redline constantly do you?
But aside from that I don't like the screamy looks of the M5: it's just too overdone for me, no class and no clean lines... bit of a mess for me:(
The E55 has nice lines, not overdone with no arrogant (but nicely fat) looks. In this range I'd want class, standing and no Korean looking sedan. But hey, there stands BMW on the badge so it's ok I guess:hihi:

BUT no doubt, the M5 is a superb, great drivers car. But if you're only interested in pure driving then there are a lot of other alternatives.

Perfect consideration....:) This is true also for me.

Very true. But some really want the best of both worlds. This car is as fast as a Ferrari yet seats 5. For those who can't afford both this is it.

Hmmm... I don't know... After all, how often do you need 500HP on public roads? Plus, at public roads speeds, they're similarly fast...

Of course, looks is subjective and you're entitled to your own opinion, but between the two, M5 here... I know I couldn't live with the "isolation" of the AMG models if I were shopping for a car in this class...

Guys, I think those numbers are a bit off... Is the E55 really faster than the E60 M5? I've seen different results... :vhmmm:

Me too!! I know that 0/100Km/h they are similar but over 100km/h the BMW m5 is more fast.

I think that the new M5 is a perfect car. It can be used like a normal car every day but also it can go on track and fly like a plane....In spite of this I prefer the elegance of E 55 AMG.
But if you are searching a car that really can be called RACECAR this car is new M5.
