The highest speed recorded at Nardo is 388 km/h and the winner is 9ff with a special 996 Twin Turbo. Number 2 is 374 km/h is with the famous TT BImoto.

Important detila is for both cars, the CEO of the companies were driving their own cars for those records.

And I can tell you next year in september, I will not be surprised if the 400 km/h barrier is broken. I know at least one man who is really motivated ! ! !

Cheers from Paris,
Frederic

Don't know if it's at Nardo though.

I know my benz!! :P but what I was going for, is that Erik placed the text wrong... don't think anyone in this forum would mistake the clk with a E-class... :D

Latest results at nardo:

Alpina B7: 311 km/h
Brabus Maybach: 314 km/h
Mercedes sl65 amg: 338 km/h
MTM rs6 club sport:313 km/h
MTM A8 K500: 297 km/h
Porsche 9ff : 334 km/h
VW Golf HGP R32 biturbo:321km/h

I'm suprised of the mtm rs6's max speed. Even it is 570 hp it makes 313 km/h.

hmm those are pretty dissapointing speeds for the RS6 and A8 imo... I thought the CS could easily get up to 320-325.

Was it a regular F1 or LM?

It was the McLaren F1 (XP5 i think) with 627HP.
It could be that it was the track of Volkswagen instead of Nardo.
I thought that track is in Germany
Some peolpe say that VW has a track with a straight end of +/-12km...

This site tells you more about it:

High speed records (http://autozine.kyul.net/classic/mclaren.htm)

Andy Wallace drove the F1.
Andy said live that he was driving 391km/u!! And that the car wouldn't go any faster.

Steve,

I am actually not disappointed, knowing the RS6 is an Avant. And If you look to an RS6 then an SL65 AMG, you immediatly understand which one is more aerodynamic than the other.

Last year with a 600hp+ RS6, MTM reached 327 km/h. The RS4 is much smaller than an RS6. Drag at such speed is huge.

Cheers from Paris.

If it wasn't Nardo, then it was the Test track of Volkswagen:

Ehra-Lessien, Germany

According to the site: McLaren F1 (http://autozine.kyul.net/classic/mclaren.htm) the McLaren has been on Nardo. But apperently not when he drove more than 390km/u :D

And yes, 391km/u is 243mph!
