View Full Version : Clicking Noise in Front Suspension

hello all,

I was wondering if anyone else can hear a relatively frequent clicking noise from the front suspension?

I first thought it was simply a small stone caught in the tire, but it's not.

I took off the wheel to have a look for something obviously wrong, but everything was solidly in place.

I looked at the suspension parts and there is a dark brown/black thin arm connected to the front part of the suspension which appears to be a position sensor of some kind.

I think the clicking is coming from that, and I don't necessarily think its broken, just a big noisy.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

Perhaps you might want to record it if possible and post it up.

Sorry I can't be of more help but I do not think I've heard this noise. Hard to hear over the "popcorn" seats:D .

A trip to the dealer might be in order though.

ABS working ok? Sensor not aligned correctly could do this ......

that's a good point.

I will have to see on the ice if ABS is working LOL....

This kind of issue is a concern on a low volume car, due to very little experience in the service departments hands.....

I was hoping to hear that this is a 'common' NON-problem noise....

Thanks,

Mike

I had similar problem on S6 one time (after some work on front axle) and I noticed the ABS acting up in very low speed (almost stopped), in this case sensor was too far out.

was there any peddle feedback at that time?

The noise does not sound like the typical ABS pump noise.

yes, pedal pulsing when almost at stop - however if the sensor is too close it would make a contact (thus the click) but the ABS would work ok because the signal is there.

In my case the sensor was loosing the signal because it was too far out.
