Recently purchased Rs6 and it has the radio that allows for SAT radio hook up. It does not currently have SAT radio nor did it have the cable to the rear installed. I have a PhatBox that was a plug and play from my 2001 my S4.

I was hoping that installing the cable specifically designed for the RS6 will allow the PhatBox to work. The car is at the dealer, they installed the cable into the back but they cannot get the radio to recognize the PhatBox. Were there different PhatBoxes made to work w/ different Audis? Any help would be wonderfully appreciated. Again the radio is the indash multi disc w/ the aux button marked SAT for the SAt radio. I truly appreciate this help!!!!

Vinz, dealer needs to RTFM - if the radio does not recognize the Phatbox the unit is not wired correctly. If they do not want to read the manual they can call Phatbox for advise.

I think (and this is been discussed here some time ago) that you cannot use SAT tadio AND Phatbox as the radio you have allows only one auxulliary input. So the stealer should disconnect SAT to start with .......

I got your email... I have been out of the country so I am just going to reply here.
Maybe you have the problem resolved but my thought on the subject is that maybe there is new hardware for the 2003 models. Also sorry if this is a dumb statement please forgive me but did the dealer pres the cd button twice to try and access the phatbox? That issue confused me since they said there could not be both phat and sat so I thought I would ask.

Thanks for the reply, Sturs6. What ultimately occurred is that the dealer determined that the Phatbox was shorting out the head unit. I wonder, but am not accusing, if the installer shorted out the box because it was working fine about 3 weeks ago in my 2001 S4. The installer confirmed that the cable worked by plugging in a factory multichanger and this was recognized by the headunit.

However, every time they plugged in phatbox, it blew the fuse behind the radio headunit. They also tried to see if my phatbox would work in another car, it blew that cars headunit fuse as well.

So I will be buying a new PhatBox, unless I find that the Phatnoise folks will service this old one for me( less than 1 year old). Thanks again for your response!!!!!
