i've been on a few vw R32 drives recently up at Bear Mtn in NY(near the top of garden state parkway) and i was wondering if anyone would be potentially interested in coming to an RS6 meeting and drive. we could set up a meeting at a local spot for food then goout for a cruise from there. the roads are great, the scenery is awesome and it would be cool to get all the local rs6 owners together. let me know if anyone would be interested!!!!
time and date to be determined but hopefully some saturday or sunday in october.

judging from everyone's responses, it seems like saturday 10/30 might work on for the most people. should we pick 10/30 as "THE" date???
i'm still new to this board, so if any of the rs6.com elders have any suggestions on meeting places, routes, times, dates or anything at all, it would all be appreciated.
i'd just like to get out, meet the group, check out the cars and go for a drive.

Sunday the 31st would be better. But we can have a vote what date.

Anybody have any ideas about location. Somone already mentioned bear mountains. Somebody also has to make a route. Last meet speedracer and Robertv made the route maybe they can do it again. Anybody else want to make a route.

One other note also somone should bring a decent cameras. But we have time for that.

PS. hope that this meet will be double. The last meet we had 5 RS6s plus more audis and a porche. hopefully almost 10 RS6s this time. And of course other audi owners welcome.

I'm good for either day. 30th or 31st is good for me.

I just got a brand new Nikon D70, so I've been practicing with it.

Are we planning to make this official? Such as post on other forums as well?

mike03rs6
October 4th, 2004, 14:53
i say we continue to shoot for saturday 10/30. this way if it rains and sunday is clear then we can go sunday, also sunday is halloween, i'm not sure how many people on this board have kids or some other form of trick or treating responsibilities.

i was just up at bear mtn yesterday with the VW R32 guys. those roads are a blast. the roads are kind of tight for the RS6, but the car really handled well. we can meet up at the home depot parking lot at the palisades park mall then head over as a group.

i'm not a master organizer of these type things, i'd just like to meet up with the other rs6 owners and go for a drive.

I plan to crash the party with my BMW X5 and leave the Audi at home.
I know, I know....but you folks will be surprised at what this 4.4 X5 can do....much better balance and road feel over the 02 S6 I had :D Those of you that were on the last drive up in Kingston know that I pushed the S6 pretty hard :)
I slapped a set of 20" with some sticky rubber on the X5 and I'm pretty happy with the "new" ride.
BTW....I just left a deposit on a new E60 M5....whish that was here now, it would be a blast with your beasts.:rs6kiss:

incognito I'm in Yorktown Heights off of RT129, so yes, I have heard of your town.

Is this the robert im thinking of? This is Cooper, Johns son. Your X5 has 20's and your getting an M5?! When did that happen? My WRX is still all together but now its rediculously loud because of the 4inch downpipe and complete lack of cats :) My dad and I deffinately want to come but I think we will each come in our own cars now...

incognito: Yeah i know Mahopac. I have several friends who live there. Do you also have an RS 6? The reason i ask is because a guy i know with an S4 said he raced one there.

:0: Fall RS6 et al. drive i n Boston.
Hey guys, a few buddies of mine are contemplating doing a mini Audifest in the Boston area on Thanksgiving weekend sometime prior to, or after the BC/Syracuse football game.
Already one RS6, TT and an A4 in the mix

RobertV

The S6 went back under lemon law, I had to replace it with another V8, AWD and something that handled well. I drove a E500 wagon with a sport pac, it was somewhere between a Lexus and a BMW (a nice car, most would love it, but a bit isolated for me, not enough feedback.)
I was tempted to get a S4, but I had a pretty bad taste in my mouth dealing with AOA and the S6. I had a S4 overnight, great car, did everything well, but lacked the refinement the S6 had.
I drove the X5 4.4 with sport package twice, and it was the best choice for me. I never thought I would like a truck...er....I mean a "SAV" but it has grown on me in the last 4K miles. If the numbers had worked for the 4.8is X5, I would have one (same performance numbers as the S6...yummy!) I mounted 4.6is five spoke wheels with 275/40-20 in front and 315/35-20 in the rear, made a huge difference compared to the stock 18".

Check out a few photos here: (http://users.bestweb.net/~rev/PICS/X5/)

The deposit on the M5 only secures me a spot in line. I do hope to be in the car in a years time, but we will see. I have been kicking myself for not getting a PCar when I got the S6, so I thought the M5 would help make up for that;)

Look forward to the drive and meeting up with you both!

Where is everyone meeting up? Also what time will everyone be meeting?Do you want to meet up and drive there together. I know you said I should not make my car loud but i just had to haha. It will make for some good sound clips.

i dont know what the full route could be but when we went on a different Audi drive, we went on 9w. They called it the "Clifs of Insanity". That should really be part of this drive.

I am working on the details. I have the Cliffs route, but we may want to alter that some (the Audiworld guys just ran there on the 24th and attracted a little attention from the local authorities
I want to suggest that we meet just off of RT6 and the Palisades Parkway in Harriman State Park near the Silver Mine area (I'll scope it out tomorrow.) This would be a good central place for the folks coming from all different areas/directions.
I'll post a meeting time and place tomorrow.
The foliage is at the peak....make sure you bring cameras!!!!:thumb:

Yeah I was thinking that some of the stuff at Bear mt. may be a little too tight for the RS6's but it should be alright. If Robert can do it in his X5 then the RS6 wont have a problem:D Im excited how my car will do in the twistys against the RS6's since i have at least 150hp less than them. If you guys from the mahopac area are going to drive up in a group I would like to meet up with you for the drive there. Oh have we picked a time yet when everyone is going to meet?

Lets all meet at 10am this Saturday in Anthony Wayne Recreation Area which is Exit 17 off of the Palisades Parkway. It is Exit 17 coming from the north and the south on the Palisades. There is a parking lot on the right as you enter the A Wayne Rec Area. We will leave promptly at 10:30am.
Rain date will be Sunday at the same time, but it looks like Sat will be a wonderful day weather wise.
I have a great route up Perkins Memorial Dr and Seven Lakes Drive.

Hi guys. I think it's great thatI opened up the forum and found the drive info. I would be pleased to attend. Are we talking about the palisades in NY? I am horrible with directions and the one thing I don't like about my RS6 is the nav system. what would be the closest place I can input to get near?

My father (speedracer) and I are deffinately coming:) Although we wont have RS6's we will mostlikely come in our own cars (911sc and my WRX). At the moment my car is really loud but it sounds really good (well i think so anyway :applause: ). I have an STi muffler that dosnt make any noise at all. Would people rather me put that on? Wahoo this is going to be fun. Does anyone know if the guys from speed technik are coming with their RS6? I really want to meet those guys because I want to intern there for a school program in the spring.

P.S. im on a bunch of Subaru fourms and i would like to see if you guys would like some STi's to show up.

For those of you coming from NJ, you should hop on the Palisades Parkway near the GWB (or any point north of the GWB) and head up north, it would be a huge waste of time to come up the Taconic and head back west over the river.

Here is a link to the A Wayne State Park with a map link (http://nysparks.state.ny.us/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/nysparks/parks.cgi?p+150)

This will get you close: Bear Mountain, NY 10911....zoom in and look for the A Wanye Rec Area.

SO 9:30am meet, 10am sharp we leave Anthony Wayne Recreation Area EXIT 17 on the Plaisades Parkway.

I wanted to get a sense from the folks that show up what they prefer. If the weather is good, there are some fantastic lookouts that might be good to see/snap photos OR we may just vote for a full out assault on the great curves and just drive for a few hours.
I will bring a modified Cliffs route printed out.
Feel free to email me and we can exchange numbers/ ideas.
