Car of the Year 2005: The candidates

Can we hope the Audi A6 makes it to the final? :confused:

There were no Audi's on the list. Does that mean that they've already picked up the list of canditates, and then they will choose one from there? Can't believe it Audi did not make it in.

I picked up 2 European magazines this weekend that test the Audi A6 against E-series Benz and 5-series BMW. I think the engine layout chosen was the diesel one.

One magazine chose the A6 last. The other magazine chose the A6 first. The magazine that chose the A6 last mentioned that the car was harsh to drive, it rattled, and the suspension was setup was not that great. The other magazine was the total opposite.

You really can't read too much into this these days. Best thing is to go test drive it yourself, and make your own conclusions. However, I really don't think that a 10-15 minute test drive really shows that much about a cars potential. Especially when the salesperson keeps talking to you.

When I picked up my RS6 for a test drive, I told the guy that the car was sold. The test drive was more like an introduction between the beast and I. I told him that if he was going with us in the car, he'd have to be quiet the whole way.
